Best Hops to Grow in Tennessee

Almost any would probably work. If you go to greatlakeshops you can look through the different kinds they grow and see which hops like certain types of soil. Most people grow hops based on what they like. If you want hops for bittering you might want to go with one of the ctz varieties...

American Wild Ale- Has anyone brewed it?

Thanks this looks like a fun experiment. If you like the beer though how would ever get that exact yeast combination again? Do you or did you wash the yeast from the batch? I also just looked in the lambic/wild yeast forum. I wasn't sure what that was so I never ventured in there. Thanks...

American Wild Ale- Has anyone brewed it?

I don't mean to be dumb but how do you capture yeast from the air? Is there not much info because it's a new way of brewing, the taste isn't good, or because it takes so long?

American Wild Ale- Has anyone brewed it?

I think a sour beer is what I mean. I came across it via wikipedia (damn wiki-trains). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_wild_ale I saw the yeast was different and didn't know how. Thanks for the info. I didn't realize it was going to be so long. Now I really want to do it.. a 1 year...

American Wild Ale- Has anyone brewed it?

I'm not exactly sure where to post this so I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong spot. I thought it would be fun to brew something a little different. I stumbled upon American Wild Ale's, but I'm having trouble figuring out the exact technique and yeast. Has anyone else brewed one of these? A search...

    18 brews, but I don't like beer...What next?

I'm thirding the hefeweizen recommendation. Also consider making a Belgian IPA. I typically don't like the bitter that comes with an IPA but when you stick the belgian yeast in there it gives it a nice sweet that offsets that bitter bite. :)

    First Beer Brew Eve

Already on the beer labelizer band wagon. :) As for the wait.. I know it was my first brew though.. it's already going to kill me to wait another 3 weeks while it carbonates. AHHHH. :drunk: Now I am brewing regularly and I can give them a little longer to "cook". :)

    First Beer Brew Eve

Bottling day has come for my first batch. I think it went well. However, that being said waiting for the next two weeks is going to be such a pain.

    Unfortunate Confirmation...

I wonder if you make a hop tea before you try them in an actual brew would help you determine if they will be good for bittering or just aroma? That way if next year comes you don't just dismiss them as not being good.

Another fun lesson... Triples have a lot of sugar... one should probably use a blow off. YIKES-

    First Beer Brew Eve

My first brew is sitting in secondary and I am just wrapping up with my second brew... wow this time seemed so much easier. I rectified mistakes from last time including figuring out my burner. No problems getting the pot to heat up this time. I had a boil over because it boiled so fast...

If I can't have a field of hops... (My project)

Absolutely thank you for the great plants. Also I was going to purchase 4 more crowns but what is the latest I can do so and get them in the ground safely? (In central Indiana)
