My (somewhat delayed) Brew Room Build

I have been looking in as you go along. Good, no great to see a dream become a reality. Keep posting.

Water balloons in carboy to offset headspace?

You should be able to get a spray bottle that has an inert gas in it to spray in and displace oxygen that is made for sealing paint cans. I use CO2 hooked up to a air compressor nozzle to displace Oxygen in the head space if I open a fermentor to add something. I have a shut off valve hooked...

    Brilliant idea!

    Mashing for 90 minutes thoughts

You could take a laundry sprayer and spray 2 ounces of water in a ten gallon batch of malt. Spray, mix in, let sit 10 minutes for moisture to get in hulls and mill. Save 1 pound dry grain to clean your rollers after you mill your spritzed malt. More hulls will stay intact and your numbers will...

Moving kegs in and out of keezer without issues

I put my beer lines in coils so they store under and beside my manifold which is on top of the compressor and the lines from the coil go to the various kegs. No problems here.

Pressurized Closed Loop Corny Keg Fermenting

If you could send/post more information on spunding valve and specific source you would be awesome. I live in the woods in Canada so this type of information is hard to get with the technology I have. I can machine a block so no issues there. Thanks.

    First brew in 2017

I am in my igloo in Canada with 14 more hours before 2017! I will brew when the snow melts. Lots of white fluffy snow here right now. Have fun brewing! We have fond memories of your country when we spent a month there with a RV and our fly poles!

    Taps Too Close to Door

I use a hole saw using black walnut 3/4 inch thick. I use the 2.5 inch size which is larger than your stainless steel ring or black plastic ring behind your faucet. Drill out the centre hole the size of your shanks and I use mineral oil and beeswax to finish them after sanding. They will give...

Walk in Cooler / Fermentation Chamber build

I made a smaller unit on casters with just Rhino ceramic heaters and I use it for drying hops on stack-able screens and for each batch of beer. After 8 days of primary outside the unit, I put them in this chamber and raise the temp for 2 degrees for two days before I cold crash and gelatin in...

    Label Requirement Questions

I bring beer from Canada so I am interested in what should be on labels, without calling the border patrol watching the new Trump wall!

Ceramic IR reptile heater VS Ceramic with fan VS Brewers edge space blanket

I made an insulated cabinet out of 2 inch thick steel garage door panels that have foam insulation in the centre ($2.00 each with some bruises), I could send you photos! It opens in the front and the top lifts off and can be used to be partially open when I have my screens inside for drying...

    Finishing Steps

Give it a swirl and heat it up 2 degrees and it should start working again. Champagne yeast usually will go down many more points. Used 1/4 tsp of Stevia in 5 gals of cider SG = 1.000 (cider yeast from Ontariobeerkegs.com) and it tastes fine. Bulk food store item. I had one 5 gallon unit at...
