    Dry Yeast Yeast Cake?

For what it's worth, I have reused dry yeast from US-05, US-04 and Nottingham with good results. I have both washed as well as just repitched the yeast cake.

How I feel about Fat Tire Amber Ale.

One thing to consider about Any brew that has to be transported, How old is it? How has it been stored? Age and poor storage is a killer for hopped beer. I as for Fat Tire and most beers for that matter, I enjoy them better out of a tap rather than a bottle.

    Brew Boss Systems

Menhir, I bet we ordered our systems at about the same time. I got the larger screen tablet after hearing from a local brewer who is using this system commercially. I am going to dig into the Beersmith site and see what they have to say. This should be fun, I have read the manual three...

Hops will co-mingling both in the bines as well as the roots. It is a problem at the very top where is is harder to keep them separated.

How best to retrieve dryhop sock from full keg?

I'd use CO2 to push from Out to Out of a purged keg. Build a patch hose. I used to tie the hops to the stiing thing, quit that. Now just move to clean keg, Less chance of infection or oxidation and pretty easy.

Thinking about switching to e-BIAB with Brew-Boss

I am so hoping for the ground breakers with the Beer Boss. I placed my order last week for the 15 gallon system. I am just looking at changing my equipment profile in Beersmith. Has anyone added the Beersmith program to their Beer Boss Android tablet? Thanks in advance.

    I'll Never Brew That Again

I brewed a Spruce / Ginger ale about a year ago. The malt base was a 2 row, ABA base. The taste is like chewing on a Spruce tree but I am keeping it in the keg to see is it calms down a pit. Timber.

Quick & Easy Keg Pressure Checker / Air Compressor Fill

I am going to build this but I will be sure to back the pressure down on my compressor regulator. I really don't want 120 plus psi in my kegs, don't know what would happen and i am not going to find out. Be careful.

    Brewing too much

I'm confused just reading this. I guess that is why I keg my beer.

Hard woods for making mash paddles.

I like closed grain wood, maple and cherry. But I think any of these woods would work. They are used pre boil so any nasty stuff should be killed. I read someplace that the old brewers paddles would add some distinctive individual qualities to their beer. Good Luck.

    Testing a corny keg

I look for physical conditions, Dents around the lid. Does the lid fit tight? Is it clean inside? I picked up a nasty one and it was really the pits cleaning. Gaskets are simple. Good Luck.

My new Counter Flow Chiller - First Trial

JF thanks Yes I am only using the isophor in the cooling water side. That water sits there covered between brewing days. I inspect all the connections to my lines for wear and leaks. During the brew day, I pull off about five gallons for cleanup. This has worked well with just an...

Brew Boss for a brewer in a wheelchair

As an older retired brewer, I also an looking at the Brew Boss. I am looking at the HF electric winch mounted on a rail system to move my basket / grain. The lifting is hard on the old body. I have also thought of using a hydraulic work tables that are used for working on ATV's / lawn...

    YA Counterflow Question

The problem you might run in to is kinking the copper tubing. When I built mine, I rolled around a corny keg and strapped the cools tight together with ties. After this was done, You could gentle message the circle into an oval. I would have the tubes crimped and still filled with water...

Bobby, I have tried to keep the cord out of liquid. I have used this to measure strike water as well as my chilled wort temp. Is there any fix???

    Thermometer Problem

I have a Taylor 3518N digital thermometer that is acting strange, recording 15 degrees off. Cold water test, my ThermoPen 32 degrees, Taylor Trutemp 47 degrees. I didn't test at boil. Is there anyway to calibrate these? I asked Taylor but have not heard back yet.

My new Counter Flow Chiller - First Trial

Excuse me, I'm a little excited. Just finished up building and testing my 25 foot Counter Flow wort chiller, I had been using a immersion chiller. The situation I have is a little different than most as I have no running water to the shop where I brew, all the water has to be hauled in 5...

Immersion Chiller with 330 GPH Pump

Interesting discussion. I brew with out running water. I have to haul water to my shop in 5 gallon buckets. SO Here is what I do. I have a 20' 3/8 copper coil, (I need to go to a 50" coil) My water is in a 35 gallon plastic garbage can, I freeze water in 2 liter pop bottles, I get...
