    First time pump user-tips?

Thanks for the information about the orientation of the pump, I only wish I would have seen this before I built my stand.

    Brew Boss Systems

Just finished a stand for my Brew Boss , the goad was to have the top of kettle as low as possible, 34 inches. I will look at adding a boom to lift the grain. attachment.php

    keg aged?

With my IPAs and APAs, I keg and have ready as soon as three weeks, these need to be gone after 3 months. For my dark brews I like to let them age. I seal kegs with 30 psi and check for leaks. As my kegs age I take samples and record my thoughts. When finished, I hook to CO2 and recharge...

    Cut back first bines?

Thanks so much, I'm glad I found this post. I will cut all the bines back and then pick the best 4. I have had good crops over the last three years so this one should break the bank. thanks again.

    Cut back first bines?

What I have been doing and what I read some where is that I will let the bines grow, then pick the 3 to 4 strongest and remove the rest. These 3 or 4 will be trained to climb and prosper.

    Hops can kill dogs

Thanks for the warning, my dogs have been around my hops plants for years and have not shown any interest at all, Even if I have a hops cones around, still no interest. BUT when I empty my hops spider, they would love to scarf that stuff up, Nope straight to the garbage can.

    Brew Boss Systems

The grain capacity will be good to know. The two brew I did each had 12 / 13 lbs of grain each, by looking at the dry gain and the compresses wet grain, the COFI could hold 20 to 25 lbs easy. The wort capacity could be another consideration, I started each batch with about 10 gallons of...

    Brew Boss Systems

Here is the message from Darin: Hello Brew-Boss Users! I had a current user of the Brew-Boss (Mike G.) system contact me and indicate that the Brew-Boss app works wonderfully using the Bluestacks (www.bluestacks.com) Android Emulator on Windows and soon on MAC PC's. We tried at and confirmed...

    Brew Boss Systems

I heard back from Darin, Yes the left out number will cause the problem. I also had a question about identifying the brew profiles, add a new first line and use it as a title. I calculated my final efficiency, 84 percent, not bad for a first time.

    Brew Boss Systems

I sent a email to Darin this morning, will let you know what I found out. I was looking at the files and found a missing letter in the data, I suspect that that triggered the code. I am more concerned with the dropped wifi, I hope there is a connection. Even with this, If I just had to...

    Nottingham faster than us05?

My opinion, Nottingham is scary fast, almost explosive. I have had more blow out with Nottingham than with any other yeast. You need good head space. Good Luck.

    Brew Boss Systems

Can I say I had a long day. I just finished two 5 gallons batches with my New 15 gallon Brew_Boss with the COFI. 3 1/2 hours per batch. I also did the water practice. I ran into a glitch in the auto program right at the after boil hops addition. It kicked me of line and sent me an...

I think hop dust killed my vacuum sealer

Does anyone have an issue where a few bags will loose their seal. Most of my bags stay tight but a few loose vacuum. I thought that something got under the seal surface? Any ideas..

What's more fun - brewing or drinking?

Wow, what a great subject. It blew us away that I brewed and we consumed about 140 gallons of home brew last year. I love to brew, the whole process. I also like when we have friends over and they enjoy my brew offerings. I have 12 kegs and use them all. SWMBO does not want an empty...

    Fermentation Chamber Question

This has always bothered me. It takes a long time to affect temperature change in a 6 gallon carboy. The chamber is only controlling the air temp only and this only touches the outside of the container. I have room for two carboys in my chamber and just have the temperature probe in a small...

    Stainless Steel Hop Spider

I made one from a garbage disposal tube but found it to small for whole leaf hops. I now use one made from PVC pipe, not my favorite material but it works well. Pros: It keeps the leaf hops out of the screens and valves. Cons: Interferes with wort chiller.

    Keg carbonating, then bottling

I bottle from a keg with the Blichman beergun. Very easy to do, I pressure to about 4 to 5 psi. I rinse and chill my bottles in an ice bath of Starsan, purge with CO2 and fill when they are wet, (this helps with any foaming). The cooler the brew the better. It goes pretty fast, I have...

What is the age of the customers you hope to attract? If you have music and it is loud, older customers will not come. If yo have local talent, that helps.
