    Making the All Grain jump

Not saying 185-190 is wrong. As long as its above 170.

What is the best way to remove labels from beer bottles?

I should state that the labels still had to be removed. But they came off easy and still no scrubbing.

    Making the All Grain jump

Also I use ibrewmaster. It's an app for iPhone and I believe for android now. I've used lite versions of beersmith and others and get confused with the set up. The app is easier for me to use and it does all you need

    Making the All Grain jump

Your sparge water should be above 170. It rinses the grains while not allowing more breakdown. The point is to get the wort at this point not continue starch conversion. This is why most people will raise their mash to 170 for mash out before boil.

What is the best way to remove labels from beer bottles?

I recently discovered that plain vinegar and baking soda mixed with hot water is the best approach. An hour soak in a cooler and the glue just needed to be wiped away. No real scrubbing.

Which Hops, When, and How Much???

Also cheap high alpha hops I use are magnum. Its so clean which allows you to use it for bittering and then mess with other hops for flavor

Which Hops, When, and How Much???

Stone pale ale uses athanum. I would use simcoe for bittering then athanum about 30 mins. Then use citra, cascade at the end.

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Lemon pledge. Only took one sip

CO2 inside or outside the kegerator??

Here's a little more info to the previous answer. Either is fine. The problem may arise that your tank is reading low/empty if its in the fridge too long and thus you don't actually know how much co2 you have. If there is a leak of co2 this also is harder to know since it "looks" low.

    Cold crashing

If I cold crash a beer but still don't plan on kegging/bottling for awhile is it a problem to let it warm up? Or should I just keep it cold until then?

How to deal with empty headspace?

I've used a 6 gallon better bottle as a secondary before and it's fine. If it bothers you put the racking cane down in the bottom or take the cap off to let some yeast in.

    Altbier fermentation temperature schedule

Sorry I should have specified...I racked and lagered in secondary. The cold will clear out the beer but why not get it away from yuck in the first place

    Altbier fermentation temperature schedule

I made the northern brewer German Alt kit back in September. They recommend about 3 weeks lagering. I kept mine in a extra fridge at about 40*. I also used the German ale wyeast. Awesome results.

    What is an oxygen stone?

    Cold crashing

How long is good for cold crashing? I assume the entire secondary is too long. A day? Two? Three?

    Cold crashing

I'm cold crashing the porter as per directions. It's not a dry hopping issue even though I see that would work. I'm just trying to clear my beer a little better
  18. S

    Cold crashing

Is cold crashing a common method for all styles of beer? I'm planning on doing it to my porter this week once its in secondary. What about an ipa or bitter or others?
  19. S

Bottling conditioning temperature for a lager

Don't immediately store in the fridge. They should condition at preferably 72 degrees or so.

How my brews landed me in the ER

I've had thrush 3 times. All of them before I began homebrewing. I have thought about this possibility. Try cold crashing your beer in secondary to drop the yeast out faster.
