Dry Hopping with Stainless Steel Infuser

What about using a tea infuser, one of the larger ones? Same principle. Tony

    What went wrong?

My first thought was infection of some kind, wild yeast or the like. Even the distilled water can get bacteria if it has been opened. Sanitize, sanitize. Tony

    Google is funny

So THAT'S what I've been doing wrong. I must have missed step 20. Dag! Tony

    leaky pot fix?

Easy solution... Throw away the pot and get a new one. Sounds simple, but the hole is there making more than problems with leaking... it may also flake or rust stuff into your wort. Tony

Why is brandy cheaper than bourbon?

    Could be aging... time=money. Tony

Best way to clean a scorched pot?

Oldest trick in the book for a long-time kitchen guy... Two drops of bleach in about 1/2 cup of water. Boil the pot on the stove until it's almost gone. The crud will cake right off. Tony

    swirling the starter?

Oxygen is important to yeast at first, but then becomes an enemy. Agitate, pitch, hydrate, agitate, leave it be. Tony

    This is not good.....

My father has just been through this with a rare form of cancer that presented as a tumor on his hand. The cancer spread to his lymph nodes, but no further. He is undergoing radiation therapy now and the extra growths that were found following his surgery and recovery have reduced in size...

    My ruined 40 dollar thermometer!

I think they mean you can use the probe in the oven. I have one that's similar, only a bit larger control unit. The control unit remains outside and the probe goes inside. I use it for meats.

Does ale yeast work well for cider?

My first cider batch was brewed with Wyeast Liquid Draft yeast, and it's great. Has a bit crisper flavor, I think, and plenty of hardness. :drunk: Tony

    Is this going to hurt?

Even as a newbie, I'd have to second that. It's not the $$$ lost so much as it is that there is a reasonable chance you are okay. Worst case is you do a few tastes along the way and hope for the best. If it goes bad, then dump it. BTW, next time you're going to dump a batch... CALL ME...

    Deep Six Brewing Co.

That's a really nice label, dude. My wife is working on a label for mine... she's pretty talented, but I don't think she'll be putting skull and crossbones on my label. :) Tony

    First batch, first label

I read the original post about this beer... and I laughed... you could turn this into a short story. The label looks great AS IS. Tony

    Better Bottle question

I'm looking to buy two Better Bottles, but can't seem to find any conclusive information about exactly what else I need to complete the setup. Can anyone provide a little guidance on what accessories I need with these bottles to set up a primary and secondary? Assume for the moment that I have...

    New from WV

Hi drinker, I'm in Shepherdstown, the eastern panhandle. Not too far from you, actually. Thus far, I've drank what I've brewed. I'm brewing another batch tonight of stout, a favorite of my wife's. Tony

    New from WV

I've long been a fan of micro-brewed beers and the intricacies of flavoring, body and taste of good beer. Over the holidays, my brother-in-law gave me a Mr. Beer kit, and I brewed my first batch for fermentation just before New Years. About two weeks ago I bottled the batch and all has gone...
