Basic ? about force carbing then pouring PSI

Thanks for the tips! The only other complication is that I have 1 keg in a big fridge and another keg in a small fridge, but only one CO2 tank. I suppose I can carb both up and leave them at proper volumes and serving PSI, and just leave the CO2 tank connected to one of them. That would just...

Basic ? about force carbing then pouring PSI

Hi Everyone. I'm about to keg my 4th brew and I'm still struggling with a fundamental question.... After the beer is carbed appropriately, should I leave the keg at an ideal "pouring" PSI? Here's what I did on the last couple brews. Force carb @30PSI for 3 days, then back it off to...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Well, no time for beer these next few weekends. We are officially in WINE SEASON. (somehow I'm sure I'll find a way to brew a batch in the next couple weeks) I get questions from people all the time about how home winemakers can get access to what they need to dip their toe in the wine...

10gal oak kegs - why aren't these more popular?

I picked up a 10 gallon american oak keg from Barrelsunlimited back in 2013 for a couple hundred bucks. I made a petite syrah port wine in it the first season, now have a cabernet franc from 2014 harvest. We may use it for one more wine season before I retire it and use it for sour beer...

Just picked up these 5 sours. Tried them? Thoughts?

Thanks! Can't wait to try it!

Just picked up these 5 sours. Tried them? Thoughts?

Hello! I finally made my way over to a local bottle shop and picked up 5 sour beers to help expand my palate. Have you tried any of these? If so, did you like them? Which ones are your favorite? What should I expect. Thoughts welcome!

    Pliny! Bottle date=6/8. Freshness concern?

STOKED! Just picked up my first ever bottle of Pliny. The bottle date was 6/8 and today is 7/2. In the grand scheme of things, is this generally fresh enough that I shouldn't worry about any flavor/aroma degradation? I will taste and review tonight! Happy 4th everyone :)

Armpit aroma while in secondary. Is it the hops?

Ha! Yeah, it was definitely in the glass :) I'll be patient and give it time to come together. Beers always go through an evolution, especially during the fermentation process. This is just quite different than any other batch I've brewed so far....

Armpit aroma while in secondary. Is it the hops?

Alright, I don't think I jacked anything up during brew day. I made a 3 Floyd's Gumballhead, which is made using only Amarillo hops. I racked to secondary a few days ago, and dry hopped with more Amarillo. Here's the issue - it stinks! It has a strange BO, dirty armpit thing going on...

Beer planning for trip - Am I rushing this?

We'll be in the car for 3 days, but I'll have to disconnect it for a couple more that than while I'm force carbing the Gumballhead.

Beer planning for trip - Am I rushing this?

So what's the reason for boosting it to 20PSI before unplugging the gas? Is that because it hasn't been on 12PSI for two weeks yet?

Beer planning for trip - Am I rushing this?

Thanks for the advice! Do I need to keep the centennial blonde cold? If I take it on the road trip it will be in a completely packed car and probably wedged in on its side at room temp. Logistically there's no other way.

Beer planning for trip - Am I rushing this?

Hi Everyone, I'm going to hit you up with a number of questions, so please bear with me.... Current equipment and vessel status - Kegged Centennial Blonde on 6/2 @ 30PSI, then dropped it to 12PSI on 6/4. - I've got a Mini fridge with space for 1 bucket/carboy/keg (currently being...

    Simcoe/Citra IPA - Recipe Thoughts?

Thanks! I threw 1/2 oz of Magnum in at 60min and also used a cascade addition at 5 min. My efficiency was terrible at just 48%, so despite the heavy grain bill, I'm just at SG 1.062 :(. Does that still qualify as a double IPA?

    Simcoe/Citra IPA - Recipe Thoughts?

Hi Everyone, I'm finally ready to make up a recipe...at least I think I am. I want to keep the grain bill simple and let the Simcoe and Citra shine. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Estimated stats: OG: 1.078 FG: 1.022 SRM: 7.89 IBU: 68.4 ABV: 7.4% Efficiency 60% (going conservative because I...

Tasting Video of my best brew yet...funny!

I was wondering about that. The cat piss was never really coming through for me. Probably for the best. :)

How important is it to filter from kettle to fermentation?

70+ batches? No way you can drink all that on your own. I'll PM you my address so you can offload :) :mug:

Tasting Video of my best brew yet...funny!

I fixed the video so it's now embedded. I know a lot of folks aren't fans of the idea of going ONLY citra...but it totally works and it's DELISH.

Does your regulator do this? (video)

I flipped the valves around and voila! It works perfectly. Thanks soooooo much everyone. I'm sure I wasted most of my Co2 tank trying to figure all this out, but I'm glad it worked out.
