The Stasis - A glycol system designed for homebrewers - Pre-Order now for $599

I'm pretty sure the 24 hours upright thing is just for the fridge/compressor part inside. The refrigerant needs time to collect in the right spot after transport. Can't you lower the coil, by pulling it apart a bit, or sliding it down in the lid? Good luck.

How cold can a mini-fridge ferm chamber get?

I think you could test this by disabling the built-in controller and measuring how low the fridge will go without the added heat load from the extension. If your fermentation chamber insulation is as good as the original fridge insulation, and you are making the total surface area a factor two...

If you can't switch to smaller ID tubing ( that you might have to heat to make it fit, and that might be hard to impossible to get off without cutting it off), try teflon/PTFE tape to get a tighter fit. Hot glue might also work.

How many pounds of roasted coffee in 2020

I roasted one pound of very affordable Burman's coffee ($3.99/lb, Colombian Supremo Antioquia | Burman Coffee). I just poured some into the hopper, so within the next few days I should know whether I can taste the difference. Not 100% sure what I'm hoping for... 448.07 +1 = 449.07.

monkey, amber, thanks for the comments, but this was more a question for dnr .

So your experience is baking yeast is good for Hefeweizen? That would be super convenient!

Arduino Keg Sensor for Level, Temperature, and Pressure with Display

Pretty cool! Pictures of the sensor setup would be nice.

    Hoisting a conical fermentor

I don't know, I like it. I'd use stainless steel rope with loop clamps at each end, attached somewhere to each leg, and guided/held near the top of the fermenter with a ring, preferably one that can't slip off, so that the fermenter can't invert in the slings. The ring probably needs to be...

    Chronic attenuation issues

I found that using more than one thermometer is a good idea. Several of my digital ones started to give bad readings, but not necessarily in an obvious way. For both brewing and coffee roasting I now switched back to an old analog meat/baking thermometer, and I occasionally cross check with a...

BlowTie spunding valve help needed, please

Adding partially filled kegs (with liquids that can absorb CO2) to the equation just makes things more complicated. If you are asking a yes/no question (do I observe a leak?), and your gauge drops, you have the answer. The bubble method is similar, and it is very sensitive, since you are...

BlowTie spunding valve help needed, please

I would hook up an empty keg, and check whether I can see any pressure drop after an hour or a day. Since you probably won't see anything, I would stop worrying at that point. Long version: If you are intent on measuring your leak rate, then you are already on the right path, since the smaller...

BlowTie spunding valve help needed, please

I'm not sure I 100% understand your setup, but if your measurement volume is very small then even a relatively small leak (in mbar liter per hour, or whatever units you prefer) will result in a noticeable pressure drop. A loss that's not even visible after a week relative to five gallons will be...

    Panel Repair burned out main.

Jekeane, if two separate spots overheated, then the only logical explanation is that you had bad contact with high contact resistance and/or sparking in both places. This is worrisome as it raises the possibility that you might have more loose connections elsewhere. (The heat did not get...

Glass Carboy Cleaning Incorrectly - possible source of off aroma

Interesting. Rebelbrews, I think that for 'sanitizability' you are better off with glass than with plastic. In any case, it sounds like you need both an acidic and an alkaline cleaner to remove beer stone: https://www.morebeer.com/articles/removing_preventing_beerstone Also, shout (added: oxy...

Glass Carboy Cleaning Incorrectly - possible source of off aroma

My understanding is that oxiclean (name not withstanding) is not used for cleaning brewing/fermenting residue, but for sanitizing. So your carboy might be due for a hot alkali bath and a good scrubbing...

First BIAB - really low efficiency - tips for next time?

All good advice, except for that last '1.037' out of the blue. That's like saying most cars have 150 horsepower. And what is ppg; parts per gazillion? :bigmug: :drunk:

    compact peltier cooled carboy setup

day_trippr, that's the point. I can fit the keg (with insulation), I can fit the 7.5 gallon carboy, but I can't fit a fridge that would hold the keg. It's more a thing for city folks, I guess.

    compact peltier cooled carboy setup

With the radiator connected with longer hoses & wires and relocated to the window sill, and the Meanwell LRS-350-24 power supply, I think this is now a setup I can recommend for 5 gallon brewers with space constraints. I really like the quick disconnects for switching in kegs and fermenters, and...
