1bbl - HERMS, RIMS, or direct

Hi all... Starting to plan an upgrade from 10 gallons (hybrid propane and electric) to 1 bbl electric... What are your thoughts on mash temp control at this scale? My old system was HERMS (that was the electric portion of the "hybrid") and worked great at 10 gallons.... Just seems like...

10 gallon batch on Stout 1 bbl setup?

Hi all, I am selling my beloved BrewFlex 10 gallon system and eyeballing Stout Tank's 1bbl (40g Mash & HLT and 45g BK) kettles as the foundation of my next gen home brewery. I'm upgrading so that I can split batches with friends, but want to still be able to brew a 10 gallon batch if the mood...

Texas BrewFlex - Home Brew Setup

Oops. Sorry guys, I overlooked that (in my defense, I had been drinking when I posted it!). Mods, if you need to pull this thread down, no hard feelings. Or if "starting bid is $1500" passes the test, then "starting bid is $1500". :)

Texas BrewFlex - Home Brew Setup

Exactly. I won't say that the results are guaranteed, but there's a decent chance that it will give you a new body! Brewrifle, I sincerely appreciate the interest! For now, I am going to let it ride on eBay.... I honestly do not know a fair price. I looked for as many comp prices as I...

Texas BrewFlex - Home Brew Setup

What better thing to make the inaugural “first haul” in your new truck! :D This was the most random purchase I have probably ever made. It is a "grease guard" (or something like that... it evidently sits on pans to keep grease from splattering when you're cooking) that I picked up from a...

Texas BrewFlex - Home Brew Setup

Hi all! I am to the point the I have outgrown the BrewFlex system that I built a while back. I need a Spring project, so building a new system to accommodate me and my brew pals is starting to shape up. Sadly, Brewflex Serial #1 is going to have to go to make room for home brewery version...

    The Fermoire

Sorry for the very delayed reply... Haven't had much time to do brew things this year. Sad. Anyway, thanks Jacob I appreciate the comments! Brewjunky, here are some answers to your questions: -why so many temp sensors? Wouldn't 1 do? Because I could. :) They were cheap, and the...

    Quick keezer question

Hi folks, I've built a collar for my keezer and am jusssst about to start coating the stain w/ poly. I want to go ahead and install it soon so that I can get my CO2 tank out and have room for another keg to start carbing/serving. I'm probably going to have to wait until Santa Claus comes...

    Insulating a corny

Really well! It stayed plenty cold for the duration of the party. I did wind up wrapping two layers of the foam around it though since I had a couple. The keg lived on a concrete porch w/o a place to tie down to, but managed to not get knocked over. In hindsight, I learned that my...

    How thick is your tube...

I use a half-inch coil as well... Probably about 20 ft or so in a pot that I threw a hot water heater element into the bottom of. Works well, but I could probably benefit from an additional heating element.

    Insulating a corny

Yeah... My original thought today was that I'd go get one of those nifty tool aprons that fits over a 5 gallon bucket, put the keg in the bucket, put the CO2 in the bucket's pouch, and throw in some ice packs in the bottom of the bucket to add some weight, keep the keg a little cooler, and...

    Insulating a corny

One last-minute upgrade... Ran to Home Depot and grabbed a little $10 utility pouch that would normally go on a tool apron. Secured the pouch to the keg with a bungee cord. The CO2 bottle tended to lean out away from the keg at the top, so I clipped a little piece of clothes hanger wire and...

    Insulating a corny

Picnic & about 5ft of hose coiled up... I'm itching to buy faucets for the home keezer (and thought about it for this too), but haven't been able to pull the trigger on that part of the wish list yet so I'm just going to rob one of my current picnic assemblies. If anyone makes fun of it at the...
