BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

FWIW, I have several Elegoo clone Megas in my brew system and they have all worked flawlessly with BruControl. For $16/ea., I have a couple of spares on hand ready to swap out and save a brew day should it come to that at some point. Elegoo Arduino Mega clones

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Yup! That's what it's doing, actually! Once filled to a predetermined amount, it calculates the final volume from the HLT's pressure transducer and uses Pete's looping code that he shared a few posts back to increment a time value to the same amount of seconds as I calculate with Pump Rate /...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was running into, so that one isn't attached any longer. Just came back in from several rounds of testing various volumes of water with the flowrate-based pump timer in place and it is actually working really well! May still throw a flow meter in there in case I...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Ooh, I like that... New plan C. :) I think I had mentally blocked that as an option b/c I had put flow meters on my reverse osmosis system's "clean" and "waste" water lines and had nothing but trouble with them... I had kind of forgotten about them though... They were originally going to...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Thx Oak, I definitely could have solved this by using a global element and manually calculating. My system knows (sort of) the volume of the HLT and the flow rate of my pump, so I was going to experiment with seeing how close I could time things to get the pump to drain the HLT and shut off...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

The loop/timer concept worked perfectly... Thank you sir!

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Hi, is it possible to pass a variable to the sleep command? Long story, but I have a need to dynamically calculate a time value to run one of my pumps. The scaled down test script below never goes past the "sleep waitTime" line. If that isn't possible can I dynamically set a timer value by...

    PurePitch disappointment

Interesting.... and here I thought I had never done a lager before. :)

    PurePitch disappointment

Sure enough, good eye... I didn't look at my own picture close enough... I sure didn't see that when I was looking at the package itself. Seeing that, it's odd to me that the wort I dumped from the outer pack was so clear and the inner pack so yeasty. Would have thought both inside and...

    PurePitch disappointment

Correct, PurePitch, not smack packs. I had watched the video above before I opened them is the reason I opened/described it that way. It didn't appear breached, but I can't be certain. There was pretty much no wort in the inner package where the yeast in the pic is, but there was also no...

    PurePitch disappointment

Getting back into homebrew (yay!) and picked up a couple of packs of WLP029. Last time I brewed, White Labs shipped in test tubes, so this fanciness was new to me. Need a big starter, so I am using them both. Shook them a bit and noticed they behaved differently. I carefully cut the very tip...

    DIY Thermowell

Thanks for the replies! I was coming back to say that writing the original thread here must have jostled some brain cells because right after I wrote it I found THESE stainless caps on Grainger. BigBlock, I love that idea, but if my math is right, those are the same diameter as my tubes so...

    DIY Thermowell

Hi all, I am in the process of making some stainless temp probes with DS18B20 sensors, the 1/4" stainless thermowells from Brewer's Hardware, and some Ethernet cable as suggested by Dallas. I found that 5mm OD Ethernet cable fits like a glove inside these thermowells, and was pretty happy...

    New Williams O2 regulator

Can we pretend I didn't ask this question? :) I just hit the O2 valve threads with a wire brush and then wrapped it with teflon tape for some lubricant and it seated fully this time. What felt "relatively snugly" on the nut before wasn't even close. I haven't even been drinking today...

    New Williams O2 regulator

Hmm. So on mine, when I tighten the threads (relatively snugly with a wrench) there is almost 1/4" of "play" still that I can slide the regulator towards and away from the tank... The regulator just dangles there loosely at that point. Even if I wrapped the threads, the O2 would just blast...
