That looks like a nice option. The only concern I would have is that the spunding/relief goes up to 30psi without a safety PRV like the Spike manifold. If someone inadvertently tightened it over 15 psi it could damage the conical and possibly anyone around it.

    The "Dear" , "Sincerely" thread

Dear beer shipper supplier, Please work out a better deal with your fedex/ups distributors. A few small pieces of paper/cardboard shouldn't cost 25$ to ship... Sincerely, Alleged beer shipper

I just picked up that exact teflon tc gasket to help with rotating the racking arm after seeing it suggested in this thread. The racking arm can be a B* to turn. I always tighten the clamps down pretty good though, especially when under pressure. I'll report back on this next batch.

Is any calcium or magnesium left after mashing?

Do you use yeast nutrient to account for loss during the mash? Most DP nutrients includes biotin, pantothenic acid, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and zinc which should give you peace of mind. I don't know the exact quantity needed based on the variance from water additions (strike/sparge) to...

All grain canned wort, so far so good!

Maybe that's what I missed. What disadvantage is there to having sterilized wort over boiled? I add a yeast nutrient and oxygenate right before pitching the starter.

All grain canned wort, so far so good!

Wait maybe I'm missing it. I would think there's a huge time savings from canning. I can by weighing out 4 oz DME to 8 oz water and load the wife's instant pot to the brim with jars. Add some water to the pot, set and forget overnight, and viola canned wort. I don't have to wait for a boil...

    Belgian Pale Ale La Chouffe

Planning on brewing this as well. I'm adjusting the amount of malt to bring down the FG as suggested, however, my IBU's are pretty high. Is it just my aa% or was the original recipe supposed to have a lot of hop character? My SRM is also low, but I'm guessing that's normal. Below is my recipe...

You could go with a 2" TC to gas post? I guess it depends on if you prefer camlock, QD, or just TC. :) https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/tc2blg.htm

I have seen a number of people dry hop that way (bottom up) with the norcal yeast brink. I assumed it was just a benefit of their design. Do you know if there's an advantage doing it that way compared to dry hopping from the top? Would trub re-settling on top of the hops impact the extraction...

    Homemade PBW Recipe

To my knowledge, those dry cleaners and other companies pay distributers and you would need to work out a deal with them if they'd be willing to cut you in. The makeyourown website I referenced estimated shipping of 50# Sodium Metabisulfite for 26$.

I order from makeyourown.buzz Great selection, descriptions, and pricing. Only thing I have to purchase separately is the TSP90 which I order from Amazon.

I have a Bock currently fermenting and want to harvest the yeast for a future batch. I'm currently 4 days into fermentation and my tilt is showing a slow, but steady drop in gravity. When should I dump the trub to minimize loss of yeast? After hitting FG, but before crashing?

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I'll be brewing a traditional Bock on Sunday. The starter is coming along nicely!

    Michigan Side/Side Kegerator 4-tap

Selling my side by side fridge turned kegerator $100 It is in great working condition. I have had 0 issues with it. I moved and it unfortunately wouldn't fit down the basement stairs so I built a keezer. *This does not come with any of tubing, manifold/co2, or shanks *Painted with chalkboard...

How important is it to control the temperature of a yeast starter?

I typically pitch the whole starter right off the stir plate. Recently I have been thinking it might be best to decant to keep extract flavouring out of the wort. Do you chill after 24 hours on a stir plate, decant, and let it free rise up to pitch temps? Any recommendations are appreciated...

    240v plug help

Hey thanks for looking into it with me. I would still need the inverse of that exact adapter. I'm thinking I'll either need to re-wire the outlet or the plug to the PID.

    240v plug help

I had an electrician install a new 240v outlet in my basement for the new ebrew rig and he installed an L14 30p. Which I didn't notice at the time, I had only asked for a 4 prong 14 30p plug. Now that I have received my 240v PID controller it has the standard 14 30p plug. Is there an adapter or...

    Kegging with Manifold Setup

This... All day. While I am not about wasting money on unnecessary brew gear, a portable (10# in my case) co2 tank and reg is invaluable. When your main kegerator tank goes out or if you need portability for whatever reason, which there are many, it is a no brainier. My kegerator has a 20#...
