    Induction Brewing with 120V

You can brew 1800W induction easily for those batch sizes. I used a portable 1800W induction unit with an 8 gallon kettle to boil 6 gallons. I wrapped the kettle in Reflectix.

I overcarbed and also bottled my beer too early - gushers

IMO, 5.5 days in the fermenter isn’t just a bit too early, it’s way too early. Many here say at least 2 weeks and I’ve found sometimes there’s activity beyond that. My last batch, I saw airlock activity at 11 days and decided to give it 3 but ended up at 4 weeks.

    New Grain Mill

I think thats a good start. I have that mill and adjust it with a credit card as a guide. Some here may cringe at that and tell you to buy a feeler gauge. My efficiency is really good. I use the bag in my Mash&Boil’s malt pipe.

Fat Tire - New Belgium ditches classic recipe

Too bad they just didn’t come up with an entirely new recipe to market to that demographic and have the integrity to keep Fat Tire as is. JMO.

How long should I wait before bottling after I have added the priming solution ?

I stir my priming solution into the bottling bucket but because I’m also concerned with oxygenation, I make it appoint to stir rapidly/thoroughly but without breaking the surface with the stirring spoon so as not to create splashing. I cant say I’ve noticed oxygenation in my beers. I also use...

Costco selling Brewing Gear and Extract Kits??

For the sake of the hobby, I’d rather support LHBS or even large, online home brew suppliers whenever possible. Although I understand Costco may be an important option for some, depending on where one lives.

Which is a better deal? Corona mill or Cereal Killer?

That seems likely. I bought my CK in May 2021 for $104.99 And like it — use a drill. I don’t brew a couple of times+ a month like some guys but at that price, I didn’t see the point in a Corona. That HullWrecker at NB/AIH certianly appears to be a CK at $139.99. If buying today, I’d wait for a...

    Lalbrew CBC-1 usage

I brew 5+ gallon batches of BelgianAles (higher gravity) and I add a full pack of hydrated CBC-1 to my bottling bucket and priming sugar with great results. Maybe I should save e few bucks and split up the pack.

does all grain beer taste better than extract? or is it just an experience thing?

Major competitions have been won with extract recipes. I am far from an expert on why the reported extract twang shows up, at least in some brews but not others. Could it depend on the particular extract used or something in the brewer’s technique? I don’t know.

Brand New to Homebrew - Initial Cleaning Question

I use a recipe for a PBW substitute that works great and I’m sure there’s other on HBT who use it as well (as mentioned in post #2). I made a small bucket of it to keep around on brew day and bottling day. Recipe for making a substitute PBW beer equipment cleaner Less expensive than PBW!

    Advanced extract brewing

I recently ordered William’s Belgian LME for a Tripel I plan to brew a week or two from now. I brewed an all grain Tripel for the first time some months ago and loved it. I wanted an easy brew day so decided to try this LME.

    Bottle Cap Size

I use a wing handled capper with no complaints but I have to ask — Is the issue people have with those that they work fine at first then do a poor job after so many uses? I’m not brewing 2-3x a month and the beer is just for me so maybe my capper isn’t worn out. I certainly can’t “flick the cap...

Russian imperial stout above alcohol tolerance

+1 on CBC-1. I use for it Belgian ales along with almost 7oz of corn sugar for carbonation (5G batch) in Belgian Bottles (thick glass). I follow the Lallemand website directions and hydrate in (distilled) water at the recommended temp for several minutes before gently stirring it and the corn...

What Online Brew stores do you like?

Atlantic Brew Supply -- Great service, grain prices better than Northern Brewer and they ship relatively quickly. Northern Brewer is local to me so I use them as well but they are definitely more expensive on their regular pricing. Great physical store though. Sometimes if I have a big enough...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I use a Wilser Bag made to fit the malt pipe of my Mash&Boil and the top goes over the outside of the kettle. When I pull it out, there’s no excess bag to expand and cause what you describe. Just have one made to fit and you won’t have that problem.

    Cooling in Apartment Homebrewing

There are adapters out there for faucets without threads. I did some looking when I was shopping for a new kitchen faucet but ended buying a threaded one.
