    Yellow leaves/wilt

My first thought is a nitrogen deficiency based on the photos and the fact the yellowing is towards the bottom. With that said I'm curious what your numbers are on your fertilizer, especially when you are feeding them weekly. Could also simple be too much feeding, again based on your fert...

    Hop PLANT supplier?

Just discovered High Hops Farm operating out of Colorado. Smaller plants than GLH but plants versus rhizomes for a better success rate. Not to late for planting if ur still looking Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Hops stopped growing

Mulch is what you want to not only help with moisture loss but also to aid in keeping the soil cooler on those hot summer days. I go with dye free woods chips. As far as watering first year plants, poking your finger into the soil a few inches down, I believe, is the best method of learning when...

    Hops stopped growing

You'd be surprised how hardy they are, so I bet you'd be good with a little TLC. Check back with your results too. Always interested in how potential problems work out. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Hops stopped growing

Taking into consideration you have not fertilized and not knowing your soil conditions when they first went into the ground I would suspect a nutrient deficiency of some sort. Prob nitrogen if you lost some color. I'd hit it with some fish emulsion and see how she responds. Good luck Sent...

Finally got them in the ground!!!

Wait for the bines to die back on their own, you'll know when this happens when the leaves fall off. cut them all back to ground level. I cover with a fresh layer of cow manure and a few inches worth of fallen tree leaves before winter hits. Next spring gently pull back the leaves when the...

Finally got them in the ground!!!

I would use a couple of strands of rope for each plant with two or three bines each. The idea is to help the plant establish itself in its new location. Next year when the shoots start popping cut back the growth to two to three shoots per string for each plant. Others on the forums may have...

Finally got them in the ground!!!

If they are already 8-10" high, start training them clockwise around some twine or the like now. Also, since it's well into June I wouldn't trim any vines, mostly because they have been transplanted and already in some state of shock. Cascade and chinook are both hardy in just bout all areas so...

    Hop PLANT supplier?

Dang, sounds like both varieties are out of stock. Cascade and chinook are popular varieties. Check back often though as they return to in-stock year round. Worst case you could get the crowns later for a fall planting. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Hop PLANT supplier?

Great Lakes Hops. Check them out online. They have exactly what you are looking for and are great to work with. I got Cascade and Chinook from them this spring. Established crowns arrive in great shape with care instructions for a successful transplant. They have a very informative Facebook page...

    Very tiny bugs on soil

So the new growth on my plants is beginning to curl downward. In my effort to check the soil to see if the soil was moist I noticed what appeared to these itty bitty little bugs that jump all around my approaching hand. When I say itty bitty, I mean smaller than a grain of sand but just big...

    New leaf growth curling downward

No clay at all. Sandy soil amended with mushroom compost and topsoil. Soil stays moist, never soaked. They were doing fine since May, growing fast and now this, rather suddenly. I don't believe it is how the leaves unfurl either.

    New leaf growth curling downward

Any idea why the new growth is curling downward? Also, checked on them this morning and curled leaves are browning on the edges and the bines stopped growing. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    New leaf growth curling downward

Anybody have an educated guess what is causing all three of my Cascade plants to start doing this. The little guys are 1st year rhizomes and the big boy is GLH crown planted in middle of May. All have been doing well and then all of a sudden this! Thoughts are greatly appreciated!!!! Sent from...

    Help identifying problem

Yeah the 2010 Hop Handbook has been read twice trying to figure out what is happening. I hope is is not black root rot as my neighboring Chinook plants may be in jeopardy. Black Rot is hard to diagnose as the problem mostly exist underground and finding photos of subsequent leave damage seem...

    Help identifying problem

So a week or so ago I noticed some dark spots forming on one or two leaves on my Great Lake Hops Chinook crown. The spots have since turned into inner brown marks on the leaves and appears to be spreading. I have searched high and low on this forum for possible answers but having a tough time...

    Great Lakes Hops

Neild5:Located upstate NY, Glens Falls. Hour north of Albany. Nights have been in the low 40's that past few with day time highs just under 70. It did also rain like hell the fist day the crowns went in the ground.

    Great Lakes Hops

Just got my crowns in the mail yesterday, a chinook and a cascade. Got them in the ground right away with good soil and watered well. I’ve set up white fabric around each to protect from direct sunlight as well. Today, just about 24 hours later, the chinook has dry, brittle leaves that...
