    Cheap, simple, portable hoist rig

Hey All, I have put together a hoist system that I think is going to work well for me. I thought I would share in case anyone else is trying to figure out the best design for them. My goal was : cheap, strong, collapsible, simple. My floor space is limited in my shop so my idea was to make...

No chill - throwing flameout hops in cube

I believe this is the reason.. I moved to "hot cubing" when I discovered my chiller was lousy.. I have to say.. It improved my beer day by a ton since it shortened up the session time. When I was researching the process, one of the points made was to fill the cube completely to the rim in...

Anyone have some pics demonstrating how to fasten to a Wilser Mesh BIAB bag for hoisting?

Wow that's impressive. Just the rope loop cinching at the top of the bag is enough? It appears I am over thinking it :-) Thanks for the pics!

Anyone have some pics demonstrating how to fasten to a Wilser Mesh BIAB bag for hoisting?

Hey Everyone. I recently ordered a 20G BIAB system and I am eager to get it in and going. I was reading about the equipment etc to gain some knowledge before it arrives. The system I ordered comes with a Wilser Mesh BIAB Bag. I saw some instructions on how to attach to the bag so it can be...

Opinions on Clawhammer 20G Homebrew System

Can you elaborate to help me and others? What is the issue with the sprayer in the lid? Please explain. Controller integrated but limited? I need more info please. The whirlpool in the kettle I can understand if that is important to you. I am not trying to break your balls.. I am...

Opinions on Clawhammer 20G Homebrew System

Hmm I think I am about to take the plunge for a 20 gal setup.. I am very interested in the clawhammer. I am curious about your comment around the basket. For sparging the grain is resting above and the wort is recirculated above the grain bed to drain down correct? I am curious how the bag...

BIAB hoisting with a ratchet pulley, rev 1

I am thinking I will grab a cheapo game hoist. But I notice some of them have a brake built in. This appeals to me. Does anyone have any experience with one of these? https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/hunters-specialties-mag-4:1-hoist-with-gambrel

I think that spreader bar is actually a gambrel that is usually bundled with a hunters game hoist. That thing looks perfect for hoisting the basket. I like the looks of this one - game hoist

What Sanitisers and Cleaners are used.

I bought the Amazon commercial enzyme cleaner concentrate to work on pet stains in my home. It is the type of cleaner that breaks down organic matter. This seems like it would be useful in brewing like PBW. The product is this - Amazon Commercial Enzyme Cleaner Thoughts anyone?

    Robobrew storage container

Well what I was hoping for was to hear something like 'I found a perfect case, its not for the Robobrew but works perfectly... ' I have been doing some searching and it appears some of the rolling duffle bags could work.. and can be had for less than $20.. I plan a trip to a store tomorrow to...

    Robobrew storage container

Does anyone know of a container that can be used to store a Robobrew between sessions? I am currently using the cardboard box it came in. I would like to have something a little better than cardboard with maybe a lid that can clamp on or stay closed somehow. I currently put the Robobrew in...

Boy do I envy that. Here, brewers can sell to the public directly if they are declared a 'brewpub', but if they produce enough to be a 'brewery', then they can only sell to a distributor. The best workaround they could do is - on weekends, the breweries will host tours with music/food etc...

The craft beer bubble is busting.

Yeah its a max. Some states have 3.2 and 6.0 beers. Beer up to 3.2% can be sold in grocery stores etc.. but anything over that has to be sold in a liquor store etc. (when I grew up, we always called it 6 point beer because most of the big brewers that were selling it were making it in that...

The craft beer bubble is busting.

Ah my apologies, I just realized I mis-understood the original point by njviking, which is why don't the craft brewers brew a beer similar to the big volume rice beers. I live in the hot, deep south where there are quite a few lighter lagers made.. so around here, there are some lighter beers...

The craft beer bubble is busting.

It isn't anywhere near that simple.. The brewers are obligated by law to sell to a distributor. The distributors are largely controlled by the behemoths, and protected by the ridiculous laws, and big money. Once a brewer signs with a distributor, he has no controls about how much, or even if...
