Is there a trick to boiling water in an Erlenmeyer flask?

My gas burners are not small. I end up putting my flask on half of the burner only. Also, once I get a boil going I cut it back to simmer. It's easy enough, you just have to take her easy.

    Allagash Tripel from Austin HB

Hi guys. Got an extract kit for Allagash Tripel today from Austin Homebrew and was wondering if anyone has experience with this particular kit. I plan on making a 1600 ml starter of WLP530. I do have pretty good control of temp in my fermentation chamber. Any advice on temps and times in...

    Rapid completion of fermentation

    Hefe primary timeline.

So....... Thank you all for the advice. I guess to more experienced home brewers, this is a "duh" moment. I was blissfully unaware of the intricacies of a refractometer. After doing the REQUIRED calculations, my beer is at 1.009. Just kegged it. Tasted it. Awesome. Thanks again.

    Hefe primary timeline.

I used a 1.5L starter. Maybe I'm just being impatient? Everything else looked great. And it has been only 12 days.

    Hefe primary timeline.

I've had a batch of Hank's Hefe in primary for 12 days. I pitched a 1.5L WLP300 starter. Great overactive fermentation for the first 24 hours. Nice active "rolling" fermentation for almost a week after that. Been at 66 deg F the whole time. Things have died off as I would have expected...
