    Wooden mug

Funny enough, we did talk about both lining with stainless and epoxy coating. I wasn't sure about the fit with stainless and not sure about if the epoxy is food safe. It is odd because drinking from a glass it is usually somewhat cold, but this wooden stein is not cold. Might have to look into...

    Wooden mug

Lol, no worries. I have no idea how to curb it. For now, as a novelty item I'm not too worried. Beer still tastes good.

    Wooden mug

Lol, Ya the handle is a bit obnoxious. It also foamed op about half. So I mean, good bonding with my bro and get to finish off an early Octoberfest with too much foam. I'll call it a win!

    Wooden mug

We are moving soon and my electic brewing will be put on hiatus for a while. However, the wood shop is open (yet). So, my brother and I made some "authentic" white oak mugs! According to Google math they should hold about 1.4 liters (48oz). Finished with mineral oil. Not sure about head...

    Controlling Attenuation Through Mash Times

I was just looking on homebrewtalk for something like this (original post). I have noticed that I get much better original gravity especially from grains like Maris Otter and American pilsner malt doing a 90-minute or even 120 minute mash. In addition they seem to finish drier as well. I may...

Wiring for an electric boil kettle

So I tried the test button. It did not trip. Once I put the pigtail on the ground bar, then it did. It's a 3 wire system. Thanks!

Wiring for an electric boil kettle

Thanks for the design! You are correct, that picture is not accurate, I will post one when I get home about how the GFCI is now wired. It is a lot nicer brewing in the basement than outside when its snowing.

Wiring for an electric boil kettle

Well I talked to an electrician and got it all wired up. I have made 4 batches with this setup. I went from a counterflow chiller to an immersion chiller to speed up cleaning. My normal brew day on gas with a no sparge method was 3 hours from gas on the all put away. I have now been closer to...

    Indoor venting

I just started electric brewing in my basement about a month ago. Right now I take off the dryer vent and put on the vent that you see with a 4in inline fan to a Walmart bucket over top of the keg. There is zero condensation outside of the box, but there is a fair bit inside the box and in the...

Wiring for an electric boil kettle

Hey all, I've been brewing for about a decade on propane and I've been looking to go electric to escape the balmy WI winters. I am new to posting on homebrew talk, usually I just read and absorb. I typically do a no sparge method where I heat the water in the boil kettle, gravity drain to mash...
