    Switching to Electric

I 2nd what Augiedoggy said. I've had to rebuild all my RTDs at least once some twice. I've reinforced them where I feel they are weak but they still develop shorts. I will be swapping over to the more robust ones post by Augiedoggy when my rebuilt ones fail again.

Best way to run 240v service.

I ran 120' of 6/4 for my 50a brewery. Do you plan on ever selling the house? If so, save you a major headache and run it to code. Codes are different all around the country and can be tricky to figure out. Inspectors will sniff out your hidden run. That's what they are paid to do...

    Muted Flavors

It's your Chloride to Sulfate ratio. Have you downloaded your local water report? Without knowing what's in your water we would be just making educated guess if we told you what to put in your water to fix it. http://www.lbcwd.org/your-water/water-quality-report The OP didn't say if you...

Keezer Cooler Lines and Air Return

I thought you were going to say some type of computer fan. I've tried a bunch of different fans with different tubing materials. I ended up going with the largest fans I could turn at max rpm without having to invest more cash in a giant power supply. I have not tried a torpedo fan but they...

Keezer Cooler Lines and Air Return

It sounds like it may work. The only thing I'm wondering is: How are you going to force the air into a 1/2" tube with enough force to move it 15'? I've got two 120mm high speed fans in my keezer. One in the riser and one in the keezer. It's only 2' of rise and they are just adequate enough...

    IPA. What is happening

When do you put in the dry hops? To me it sounds like to many transfers combined with with dry hopping. I completely changed my dry hopping method about 8 years ago after all my hoppy beers started developing a sherry flavor in the kegs that I contributed to oxidation. My old way method...

Why is it harder to boil in my new pot?

You said it steel pot is a giant heat sink. What was the old pot made of? Thermal conductivity of steel is 17 BTU/(hr·ft⋅°F). The Thermal conductivity of aluminum is 118 BTU/(hr·ft⋅°F). So, if you got a larger pot made of stainless steel you decrease the thermal conductivity by a huge amount...

Flooring/drain options for brewery not in basement

It it were me. I'd forgo the sloped floor, but I'd still put in a drain and some sort of water resistant/proof flooring. As AugieDoggy said there will be times when bonehead mistakes happen. Like leaving a valve open, or having a silicone hose rupture. I'd buy a 10 dollar squidgy on a stick...

    OG super high

Exactly, what RM-MN said! You have to know your system and what efficiency you tend to get. Then you tailor the recipe up or down based on the ingredient percentages to meet your systems efficiency. Taking and reviewing brewing notes and tracking your efficiency are important in recipe...

    IPA. What is happening

Two things come mind right away without know more about your processes. 1. What type of water are you using? Treated tap water or RO built up? If tap water, how do you treat it? Sounds like Chlorophenols taking on a pinesol like taste. 2. Tell us about your racking and kegging process...

    Economy recirculating wart pump recommendations.

Even with BIAB if you're heating the mash directly you better be circulating it. Once the proteins settle on the element or kettle bottom it will scorch.

    Toaster oven elements?

You could use it to toast grains and make your own crystal malts or maybe a hop dryer/malt dryer if grown your own or malt your own. I made a Cerakote oven using toaster oven parts and a temp controller if you like refinishing firearms. You could make a pottery kiln. Other then that...

    Economy recirculating wart pump recommendations.

If your running a mash vessel with a heat source you better have a pump. If your brewing more then 5 gallon batches a pump will save you a trip to the Emergency Room. I always hated trying to get 8 gallons of 170F sparge water into my gravity system. Scared the crap out of myself a few times...

Fermentation Cooling Less Than $10 Dollars! OMG!

I used a ridged foam fermentation chamber for years. Looking at your diagram, why are you pull in outside hot air and exiting the cold air? It be way more efficient to split the chamber into two compartments keeping them closed off from the outside completely. You could use a 10 dollar home...

    Tap Handle Ideas, Suggestions

Google replica toy fish. They have a ton of 3". 6", and larger ones in all breads of fish. You could easily drill a hole in the fish, then run threaded metal rod inside of the fish and fill with epoxy. Make sure to leave enough of the threaded rod to attach a tap handle ferrule to. Or you...

review and thoughts on this beer gun

If the old Blichmann gun leaks that one will also. They look identical. I'll bet the stories you hear about leaking beer guns are the lack of teflon tape on the threads. Most people assemble for use and disassemble for cleaning, they don't bother to use teflon tape.

    Problematic Poppets

I would try switching to a universal replacement poppet. The spring is substantially longer. I'm in the process of switching over my keg fleet to them. Cheaper, faster, easier to clean and you don't have to keep 8 different types of poppets around or dig a bad one out with a screw driver.

    Ph meter advice

I've been accused of having trust issues! Bru'n Water has never let me down but I'm not sure I trust my local water report. I really just want to know exactly what my pH is. In the Navy we call this "Trust but Verify!"
