Opinions wanted on brewing system choice

As far as potential clogging, and cleaning the internal pump. It’s really not a problem. I have only had the pump clog once, and that was when I threw in a bunch of loose hops at the end. I cleared it later by using an air compressor and blasting air into the outlet. I normally use a hop...

Opinions wanted on brewing system choice

I wouldn’t dismiss the value of having a built in pump. My only experience is with the 35L Robobrew/Brewzilla. I wasn’t sure about it when I ordered, but have been glad it is there. Both for during mash, but also cooling at the end. Overall I’ve been very happy with this system. That said, the...

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

One thing I found out, partly through discussions on HBT, is that I need to pitch a couple packs of yeast with lagers. At least using 34/70. I've brewed a bunch of batches recently and they've all turned out well. It did a batch of the Dortmunder lager again with 2 packs, and have been...

    Spunding for Dummies

Glad you found out the problem. It does make sense. On some of my kegs, I have to give it a burst of CO2 to seal the lid. One thing I have found is that the seals which came with the kegs were harder. Whether from age or manufacturing, I don't really know, but I think they were just a lower...

    Spunding for Dummies

My first though reading this is just that if you have the Spundit attached to a secondary keg, it may take some time to build up pressure. You have what, 5 gallons of space to fill?

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Don't know. I've seen people talk about it on the FB Volt Owners group.

The Volt will reach some limit, and then make you use the gas, I believe.

    Hello again. Fermenter ?

I bought one of the 30L Speidel fermenters. Big opening at the top make it easy to clean, the folding handles on the sides are nice for carrying it around, and having a spigot lets me take samples more easily. I do closed transfers using gravity. Its been a big improvement over the glass...

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

That is what I had in mind. I was speculating, since I haven't purchased one of the whirlpool arms yet. I have done it as is, but got clogs. So since have used a hop bag.

Would definitely help. Or some sort of additional screen over the pump intake? I use the hop basket for the boil. Then remove, and hold it up to let it drain at the end of boil. Then put in the immersion chiller. At that point, I thought that adding any whirlpool hops, and using the whirlpool...

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

So, did you buy the whirlpool arm which is available, but doesn't come with the unit? I've thought about it. What about just adding more screens to the mesh at the bottom?

Are you saying that you have to add more hops when using a sock or spider?

Munich Helles Dead Guy Clone (Extract & AG- see note)

Brewed this recently, and kegged it last weekend. I used 34/70 lager yeast. Enjoying it!

My hop basket seems to get clogged and drain really slow. That's a big part of the problem.

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

I brewed a couple batches last weekend. A Boston lager clone, and then on Monday a DIPA. What I love about these units is that I can brew in the garage, and do other stuff. Just kinda half pay attention to it. I use the Beersmith app on my phone. The timer alerts me whenever I need to do...

Ohio Anvil 7.5 gallon bucket fermenter

I’m actually interested in this. The kegerator you sold me is working out great. Not sure I want to make a separate drive up again. If I’m headed that direction, and it’s still available, will touch base.

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

I put my 35L unit on a plastic box with a piece of plywood on top. It raises it up enough that I can get to the diaplay, but not so high as to make sparging difficult. Works for me.
