Thanks. Just wishful thinking I guess. I tried the Brewers Friend link and filled in a few ingredients. Nothing came up.

    Recipes based on ingredients

Is there any brewing software which will give you possible recipes base on what ingredients you have on hand? I am often mentally doing this. I look at what ingredients I have, and try to imagine what I can make. Recipes work just the opposite. They tell you what ingredients you need to make a...

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

I wonder about this. One of the complaints I have read, at least about the 110v 35L unit, is that they don't boil strongly enough. I always set mine to boil as vigorously as I can. I can get what I would call a strong, rolling boil. But it's not the most vigorous. I have read a number of...

Have any of you tried brewing a coffee flavored beer? A friend bought a six pack of some and brought it over one evening this past summer. I think I had 3. It didn't occur to me that there might be caffeine in it. I was lying awake at 2 or 3 am wondering why. Then it hit me...oh no!

Mine is looking nasty too. My unit, in general, is due for a deep cleaning. Maybe I'll just do as you suggest, and cycle PBW through it.

Or, you could try your idea. And if it doesn't work, order a polycarbonate sight glass? There are always options. You just may be out of action for a while.

I was playing around with step mashing for a while, but have gone to a more simple process. As the article @DuncB posted states, step mashing is really a process for unmodified grains. Now that most of the grains we use are modified, it is really unnecessary. So, I’ve gone with keeping it...

Welcome. I kinda had the same journey. I started brewing extract batch’s in the 80’s, and brewed many batches over maybe 10 years or so. I then took a long break, and have started back up in recent years do to having more time. I’m loving it. As far as the site glass goes, anything to make the...

As far as mash goes, you just have to experiment. The goal being to get the mash as fine as possible, for efficiency, without getting stuck mashes. I have my mill set about half way between the .050 and .025 marks, after doing a lot of batches. I don’t move it now. It may depend on the...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I saw an article which stated that Tesla has taken 1.2 million reservations for the Cybertruck. At $100 per, that adds up to $120 million dollars of free money people have given the company. Peanuts , I know. I also saw that the new BBB bill will give $7500 tax credits to electric motorcycles...

When I bought my 35L, the 65 wasn’t available yet. I probably would have gone that route if it was. The 35 is fine for 15-16lb grain bills. And really, it’s easier to manage. I set the unit to a height where it can drain into my fermenter, but I can still stand and lift the grain pipe easily...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I bought both of my Volts, in large part, with the tax credit in mind. $12,500 would go a long ways towards making a decision for me. Especially once we get our solar panels up.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

My daughter, and a good friend of mine, both have Bolts. I have driven both. The deal breaker for me is the seat. I borrowed my daughter’s car one weekend, and my back was complaining for days. They just are uncomfortable, and I spend way to much time in the car. Other than that, I might think...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Just a few disparate thoughts. One, I charge my Volt in the garage on 110 every night. Roughly 50 miles of range. It’s often enough to get through a day. I do service calls, so don’t drive to a set place every day. To go all EV I would need probably 100 miles of range to make it feasible. One...

I did a batch with 21lbs of grain in my 35L unit last year. It was a Russian Imperial Stout. I posted a picture of in the recipe forum. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/threads/russian-imperial-stout-2011-hbt-competition-category-winner.238807/post-8924552

Yeah. It's just enough to reach over to the mouth of my fermenter. But not so long as to drag on the ground when sitting on the floor. I've done a series of lagers recently. Wanted to brew something with more body and bite for the holidays.

Haven't tried one of those yet. Sounds good. What I have works well enough. But will have to put that on the wish list.

It depends, because I don't know what you are looking at. When I ordered mine, a SS wort chiller came with the Robobrew as part of the deal. It is a decent submersion chiller, but not the best. SS is less effective at heat transfer than copper. So, it works but is slower. If you have to order it...
