Chocolate Expresso Stout : Advice please

Hope so. It's bubbling away like mad at the moment, so that's a good sign. I can't help it but fermentation does my head in, always want to know it's fine, but once it's in there, there's not a lot you can do, but wait.

Chocolate Expresso Stout : Advice please

Well we did it this morning. Everything going fine, then I look on the table and see the Chocolate Malt, Crystal 20 and Roast Barley!!! *WTF???? Mash is practically done by this stage. So, after some cursing, run off a load and put in the boil pot. Heated up the remaining 16L of water to...

Chocolate Expresso Stout : Advice please

Noted, you think the EK Goldings is a bit of a waste? After reading around , Ive got some black malt which Im going to use to, maybe 200g / 7oz. Is the 60 min Chinook addition enough? This is my first attempt at a stout. Lots to learn, but i don't want to mess it up altogether either. Sent...

    Erin's Tears ( American IPA)

In the end it turned out "just allright". Think we boiled off too much, topped up with too much water so the final beer lacked a bit of body. Next time, we won't be greedy, trying to up the volume. Fortunately was still drinkable, especially in the hot summer days

You're not a fan then. Anyway I'm interested to hear if anyone has used this type of coffee and how the beer turned out

Chocolate Expresso Stout : Advice please

Cheers pal. Okay, no problem going up to 5% with the flaked oats. I only have 500g of chocolate malt, but I have got some dark crystal I could use, 150EBC, 75°L. As for the coffee, not sure, but plan to brew it, then chill overnight and add after primary fermentation. I asked in another thread...

Chocolate Expresso Stout : Advice please

Been reading around the forum , found a great recipe by Tuck, but as i don't have the exact same ingredients I've tinkered a bit with the recipe. I'd love you to have a look at it and let me know what you think. Does it look good? Do I need to make any drastic changes? i don't know if you can...

    Chocolate Espresso Stout

Finally got to the end of this thread, very investing reading. I was wondering if it would be okay to use a Nespresso Pixie coffee machine to make the coffee addition and then cool overnight.? Would there be any problem in using those capsules? Sounds like a great recipe, can't wait for brew...

    Erin's Tears ( American IPA)

Beer is conditioning now, 2weeks time we'll see what it is like. Fingers crossed. In the end , i think we got rid of some of the hop additions, missed some of our numbers, fermentation was at limit of high temperature, it 'll be interesting to see how it turns out. Thanks for the feedback...

    Erin's Tears ( American IPA)

Okay, tomorrow is brew day again, so I've come up with this brew. What do you think? I have a few doubts. Is the Cara Blond unnecessary? I could sub it out for sth darker. I think I have some Crystal 150EBC/75L What about the hops? Have I overdone it? They should produce a good flavour and...

    Suggestions please!

Ok, I see what youse are getting at. No American grain here in Europe. So most of my recent brews have been based on American style IPA, and have used Belgian Malt and have come out great. Thanks for the input. The commercial English IPAs I've tried have been very boring to day the least. I'm...
