Pop bottles instead of kegs ?

I did it, there are plans for a tap manifold on the net. I made the little taps, and you can push the beer with CO2, or 02 with a bike pump. The bottles work fine, I find the mini tap to be more trouble than it was worth, just open the 2 liter and drink it like a pitcher of beer. The ones i...

    First AG

mash in temp looks a little low to me, if you want a 154 degree mash temp. I would go 170-175, of course I have no idea what type of mash tun you have.

My first AG homebrew -- English Bitter

why did you wait for the two gallons of water to cool to 162 degrees? I heat my strike water to 175 dump it in the lauter/tun add grains and stir gives me a mash temp around 152. I use a rectangular igloo, i think its a 28 quart cooler. I think you let the water cool down too much before adding...

    Fire extinguiser CO2 tank?

I think you can get a CO2 tank filled, at a fire extinguisher supplier, not actually use a fire extinguisher for a CO2 tank.

    Cleaning Bottles

No matter how good the sanitizing agent is, it wont work if there is gunk, or scratches to hide bacteria, under. The bottles that have crud in em, need further attention.

    Is tilting your MT bad?

By the time you batch sparge that last but of wort is so diluted, that tilting does'nt matter that much in the big picture. I still tilt My cooler, just dont think it matters, either way.

Developing an recipe for haus ale.

Got to give credit where credit is due, I did start with Ed' Haus Ale. No real master plan, just experimenting within proven safe parameters. IE small substitutions, to see what the ingredient does.

Tastes great, of course I am drinking it too early, just like my firsy batch, but it will only get better. Carbonation is still a little low, but I want to ease it into the right zone.

    First AG, little messy.....

I connected my stainless braid by stuffingthe end of the braid inside itself for about an inch. Then slipit onto the brass barb fitting. The braid stays on because if you try to pull it off the barb, it simply tightens down on the fitting more. No clamps required.

    Partial Mash Equipment

Minimum pot size for 5 gallon AG batch?

You can do it. I dont know if metal matters, but I was able to get a stainless pot, and burner from academy sports store for 49.99 last week. They had some aluminum ones that were even cheaper.
