New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Yeah, it's pretty intense. I would try and chat with your local LHBS's or a local brewer that you think may use the malt and see if they'd want to place an order together. I think it's much cheaper to order these in bulk. I personally get Mecca from Northern Brewer right now, it's free shipping...

Back to the subject of Cosmic Punch, and sorry, this isn't exactly a NEIPA, but rather something inbetween a WC and a NEIPA. I used a Pliny grain bill, so it's a little darker than I wanted, but the flavor is pretty crazy. 𝗔𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮: gummy bears, nectarine, floral 𝗙𝗹𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿: floral and fruity, juicy...

They have some fantastic malts. Sometimes they have deals on them, I'd just get a bag of 2-row and their wheat for NEIPA's for more casual brewing needs. On the subject of their Shaniko, they actually have another Wheat malt that they created specifically for Alvarado street. Apparently it's...

I'm able to add it to "Mash", but it doesn't seem to impact my Calcium levels in the water...

Very curious to try something like this, do you just sub equal amounts of NaCl for CaCl or use a calculator somewhere? Brewfather doesn't accommodate NaCL, unfortunately. On an interesting note, I tried a Maple and Sea Salt stout last year that was outstanding. It was a little salty and super...

That's a fun experiment! Do you go for a west coast IBU range or still using a NEIPA hopping schedule with a cleaner base?

German Pils Bo Berry Pils (West Coast Pilsner)

That looks great! Idaho 7 is a pretty interesting hop. I had made a NEIPA with it that came out pretty dank, then again Mosaic probably had a role there too, but it was fruity at the same time. It probably depends on the Idaho 7 lot and year, also the time you use it... I used lots of Idaho 7 in...

That's pretty interesting results with Lutra, I'm wondering if loading up the whirlpool with a bunch of thiol precursors is making Lutra interact with them to cause a big grapey note in final beer. Grapey and musky flavors are the ones that I got most of when brewing with Cosmic Punch and not...

That looks dope! I used some CTZ in my recent beer and it added an awesome dank note, I wish I used more than a couple of oz! Have you posted the hop schedule for this one before?

That's the Beer & Brewing mag from a couple months ago, the recipe is a banger and the original beer is fantastic. This was the base for my last beer, too! Will def be using this recipe again. How was the hop burn on this? The recipe calls for 2oz Galaxy mid-fermentation, which kind of ruined...

This is a pretty good strategy, thanks, friend. I usually overbuild, but then cold crash the starter and decant. I think the decanting is what's been making the difference for me as the "beer" in the starter is still somewhat hazy when I decant it after 48 hours, I imagine that's A20 struggling...

Sweet, thanks guys! I'm definitely planning on mashing around 155-156F to finish in a true NEIPA fashion. Will report back soon.

I think Golden Promise will always give you darker color than 2-row/Pils and adjuncts, I'd just stick to those and if you run into the same issue, then yes, maybe it's the process. Malts aren't always on point as far as color goes, some batches are darker than others, you could have just gotten...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Hey guys, so I've been thinking about Imperial A20 and had some interesting thoughts. I love A24, but I just don't know how much flavor Conan part contributes there. Conan beers like my local Vermont IPA's and Alchemist beers aren't exactly ester-forward. There may be some peach in Focal Banger...

Interesting, so the conclusion would be that leaving beer on a bunch of hop matter added better aroma? How long did Beer B spend on those hops before being transferred and at what temp? Quality of those 50g of mosaic could also be a factor here...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Your fermentation should be done in a week +/- a couple of days, so there's really no need for secondary. Keep the beer at 50F for 24-48 hours and then you're good to warm it up and add the hops! You could look into a floating dip tube instead of cut dip tube, that way you can get more beer...

It'd be so cool to learn how to brew on a commercial system and Holy efficiency Batman!! Did you know the brewer there or just sort of hand off bottles when you go?

Thank you! We tried all 3 without knowing which one is which and I was on the edge between #1 and #3. I also liked #1 the best in the end, but it was pretty hard to tell them apart. They became more similar as all of the hop burn settled out and they conditioned. Fantastic beers either way. I...
