    Beer Crazy

+1 to everything said about these guys. Made a trip today and simply had to hand them a list of the grain bills and grab the hops and yeast. That plus the always mandatory stroll and by the time I made it to the register my grain was already waiting for me. No change in the near future for me! !

    Summer Home Improvement (Kreezer Build)

Yes, I am actually going to make a new collar with more height so the lid won't come so close to the air and tap lines. I am having issue right now with the line being placed so the lid pushes on it and runs the risk of causing an air leak.

    Summer Home Improvement (Kreezer Build)

Replace no, just going to give it a face-lift. I live in a small appt so while I can't have anything all that big, I figure I can take the extra money I would have spent on a bigger freezer/more kegs to make this one into something really neat. Going for a coffin-keezer type of build right now...

    Summer Home Improvement (Kreezer Build)

I have had a Freezer with Beer in it for a while now and finally decided that this is the summer that I am going to turn it into a real Kreezer. Figured I would start a thread and update so I can get some feedback and ideas (or give others ideas). Current Kreezer:

    Gelatin While Cold Conditiong? (Lagering)

Fair point. Like I said, I'm not in any real rush; this is one of my more expensive grain bills so I'm a lot more worried about it coming out well then speed.

Lager: Crash Cool vs. Gentle cooling

I have heard similar. And I may or may not have given in and tasted the maibock right before the crash...............and if I had I'm fairly sure that the rest cleaned up the diacatyl beautifully........I would know that only if I had done this of course....:mug:

    Gelatin While Cold Conditiong? (Lagering)

Here is the situation: I have a Maibock currently in the Kreezer cold-conditioning. I say cold-conditioning because in the brew process I did the long primary @ ~50F Followed by a D-Rest @ 65-68F. After this I racked to a carboy and put into the Kreezer @ ~34F. The gravity when I put it in...

Lager: Crash Cool vs. Gentle cooling

Great, this definitely helps with the space. I usually use my kreezer as a lager chamber, but it already has a pale ale force carbing in a serving keg.............don't really want to have to wait while I'm getting the temp back down :)

Lager: Crash Cool vs. Gentle cooling

So I am doing my second lager attempt, a maibock. I started with an OG of 1.070 and am hoping to hit a TG of 1.012-1.010. When I racked it the gravity showed 1.015, so I'm really close. It's finally done with primary and I just racked to a glass carboy at room temp for a diacatyl rest. My...

    S/S Pot worth the money?

Thanks for the replies everyone. Sounds like the situation is about what I though....better pot but not for this reason. As far as upgrading the burners, my parents have 3 propane turkey burners (Don't ask why 3...I have no idea) so I should be able to get one soon, but the 2 hr drive for just...

    S/S Pot worth the money?

I am brand new to all-grain brewing (still moderately new to brewing in general) and I bought a 6 Gal Graniteware pot to use as a brew kettle. Since moving to a new place I've noticed that the stove that I have isn't as powerful as I'd like. It can boil a 5-6 Gal capacity of water, but just...

    Sweeter Mead=Slower start to Primary?

I just checked the gravity and it is very high (1.170+). I am using Lalvin EC 1118 yeast for this batch. Would it be beneficial then to add a yeast energizer?

    Sweeter Mead=Slower start to Primary?

I'm making a small (1 gallon) batch of mead to test a new recipe my girlfriend gave me the idea for. I make it using 4-4.5 lbs of honey (so very sweet). However, I have noticed that is has had a MUCH slower start then my previous few batches. I can here it going, but much slower then the others...
