    dual 1500w 120v elements

hey thanks for the reply. Should have clarified that I'm just going to plug these into the wall until I hit my mash temp, unplug, biab mash, pull the bag and then plug them both on. Others in my homebrew club do this and both plugged in gives a vigorous boil but nothing crazy. eventually I'd...

    dual 1500w 120v elements

I have two circuits (a 20amp and 15amp) that I want to use to run 2 1500w elements. Both receptacles are GFCI. Would #14 or #12 wire gauge be more appropriate for my elements? I've been reading what I can but the more I read the more I realize I don't know much about it. I have someone doing...

    Liquid yeast without a starter?

Yes in an APA with the california ale yeast. I think the OG was around 1.050 at around 20C. I wouldn't do it again as there was really no difference other than I paid more. Would use us05 instead. All other styles I've made a starter. Its pretty easy and I would recommend.

    yeast starter with Dry Yeast?

I know this is an old thread but... What are you using for the initial cell count in your yeast calculator for your method? I've heard 200 billion cells in a pack of dry yeast but what has your experience been?

DIY Carboy Hauler For Men Afraid To Sew

I used your video as inspiration but I did change it up a bit. Here's what I came up with. It fits my fermonster and a 6g carboy. I think I might add another band of webbing under the bottom for added stability but so far it seems to hold up pretty well. I used about 6 meters of webbing at...

    BIAB Bag shape

This is what I came up with. Fits the keg nice and should work out OK. It was fun pretending to know how to work a sewing machine. It did hold ~25lbs easily.

    BIAB Bag shape

I would also agree the keggle is HEAVY and poorly shaped. I'm just testing the waters for BIAB and I would still like to be able to do 10G batches sometimes so not ready to get rid of it yet. Hoping to stop spending money for brewing gear :D

    BIAB Bag shape

Thanks! unfortunately the piece I picked up isn't quite big enough. I'm going to try out a pillow case shape with one corner curved. I don't want to buy more in case I don't really enjoy doing BIAB. Trying to keep it cheap for this experiment.

    BIAB Bag shape

I've been a batch sparge brewer for awhile but I'm moving away from 10G batches and I'm tired of lugging a big cooler by myself and the added work of cleaning it.... so... I bought a nice piece of Voile today and I'm trying to map out the shape to sew it. The easiest is a pillow case shape...

    Mash the day before brewing?

Its my preferred method. I've used it for am IPA, Lager, bitter, and Saison. All turned out great. Mashed in on Friday evening around 8pm. Gather my sparge water and when I wake up drain the tun as I heat the sparge water. Makes for an easier brew with kids and also more enjoyable to wake up...
