WANTED: Your expert advise on a Saison Recipe.

I guess I'm looking for saison with hops that provide a subtle fruity taste and aroma.

WANTED: Your expert advise on a Saison Recipe.

Any help on the recipe below would be fantastic. I've already bought the grain so I'm more or less looking for help with the hops and/or other flavorings. I am using the yeast from boulevard smokestack series Tank 7 Farmhouse ale dregs. My lhbs-guy said that he thought sorachi-ace and citra...

    Vienna/Centennial SMaSH

I brewed mine to 77ibu's with both the chinook and centennial, which in hindsight seems like way to much. If i did it again i would probably drop it down to the 30-40 range.

Which grain for a SMaSH Simcoe Double IPA

I made a Vienna IPA smash with centennial and chinook. I brewed both to 77ibu's and about 6%ABV. Both turned out great, and are great spring/summer beers. The only thing I would change is I would lower the ibu's so the malt shows through a bit more. In other words its a pretty one dimensional...

    Simcoe/Citra/Amarillo IPA Recipe Critique PLEASE.

Thanks for all the help guys! I think I'm going to keep the summit. I bought two 4oz packages on sale from ApexBrewWares and have used it in a single hop APA. It came out great and didnt get any onion/garlic out of it at all. For the record I'm not looking to clone Surly Furious. Its a beer I...

    Simcoe/Citra/Amarillo IPA Recipe Critique PLEASE.

No idea. I think it was in a surly furious clone or something. Get rid of it?

    Simcoe/Citra/Amarillo IPA Recipe Critique PLEASE.

Any help I can get on the recipe below would be much appreciated. I've been working off a bunch of Surly Furious clone recipes to come up with the grain bill. I've been collecting simcoe, citra, and amarillo hops in my freezer and would like to finally brew with some of them. I'd like to...

    Vienna/Centennial SMaSH

Update: Tasted my bottled vienna-centennial/chinook smash. They both came out great! The chinook has an aftertaste like you just took a big gulp of grapefruit juice. My brother in law was shocked when I told him there was no grapefruit juice in it. I dont remember the centennial as well, it was...

Saison Nelson Sauvin Dry Hopped Saison

I think I'm going to brew this as my first saison but I have a few questions. You mentioned the dry hops competing with the yeast. What do you think about moving the dry hops to flameout or using less? Or do you feel its best the way it is? I've been saving/culturing yeast from the...

    Best Canned Beers

My canned-beer options are extremely limited here in IA, but every time I'm in minnesota I make sure and pick up some Surly Furious.

Single hop - Cascade or Chinook?

I agree with unionrdr. If you have the fermenter space I would do a split batch. I recently did a SMaSH with vienna that I split between chinook and centennial hops. Its not finished yet, dry hopped it last night. I can tell you the centennial is tasting a lot better than the chinook at this...

    Vienna/Centennial SMaSH

I just brewed this last weekend. Ended up splitting it into two 2.5 gal batches. One batch I used the centennial like the OP, and the other batch I used chinook but I matched it with the IBU's of the centennial. I also quasi-continuous hopped it. I took the bittering hops and spread them out...

    Harvester of TwoRow label

Check out the label I threw together on windows paint. I plan on using it for: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f69/heavenly-scourge-black-iipa-141308/ For those not into metal/rock music, the whole thing is pretty much stolen from Metallica songs. What do you think? I considered...

    Fruit Beer Requiem Raspberry

I saw at least one person tried this recipe with lambic yeast. How did it turn out? Anybody have any thoughts/suggestions on using a lambic yeast?

    Anyone remember Josta?

DUDE! YES! I freaking loved Josta! I was so bummed when it went away, and it seems like I'm the only one that remembers it. Along those same lines, my other favorite energy drink that disappeared was Coolah. It was so tasty and refreshing. I would kill for either of those drinks to come back...

    Zythos/Chinook SMaSH Recipe Help

I planned on brewing a Vienna-Centennial SMaSH beer similar to this: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f12/vienna-centennial-smash-136327/ Well, my LHBS didn't have any Centennial or any other hops I was looking for for that matter. Long story short I ended up with: 3oz Chinook 3oz Zythos...

    i never get to finish

I had this problem, and I traced it back to two things. 1. I wasn't aerating the wort well before pitching the yeast 2. My mash temps were on the high side 158-160. Since I've made a few beers, mashed at 152-155 and all aerated well. They've all attenuated nicely.
