    Dry hopping

There's no right or wrong way. I'd leave it in. I don't get vegital off flavors from leaving them in. I tend to get brighter hop flavor/aroma. AND I try to avoid opening my kegs and exposing them to o2.

have you tried fermenting and serving from the same keg without transferring?

In golf we sometimes hear people say "par is just a number." I think us homebrewers could some of that mentality here. It took me a while to try fermenting in kegs because I wanted every bit of 5 gallons finished. It was like a mental block I couldn't get over. But man, I'm a married man...

    Fatter low-permeability tubing?

No suggestion for tubing. I have a spare keg post without a popped and a spare disconnect that has the insides removed. That lets the beer pass through without clogging.

have you tried fermenting and serving from the same keg without transferring?

You're right, I've strayed off the topic. 🍻 I'm brewing a hefe and a gose this weekend. I'd like to try the single keg method on those, but I'm serving them at a picnic sort of event. So I'll have to put the kegs in the car, drive about a mile, unload, and maybe only have an hour at most to...

have you tried fermenting and serving from the same keg without transferring?

I do plan to try serving out of my fermenting keg next time. But I'd like to try spunding and lots of people seem to do it without stalling. That's a good idea. I'll give it a try.

have you tried fermenting and serving from the same keg without transferring?

I'm on my second keg ferment. I had transferred from the the fermenting keg to the serving keg on day 3 at 1.022. Added hops and expected the remaining fermentation to scrub any o2 and also carbonate the beer. Attached the spunding valve and put about 5psi of tank gas in it just to make sure...

    Allo from Maryland!

    From Silver Spring, welcome!

have you tried fermenting and serving from the same keg without transferring?

Yeah, you may be right. My thought was that if I was serving from the fermenting keg, I would cold crash and let everything drop before pulling any beer. Since I'm currently transferring to a second keg, and trying to do that with a few points left to mitigate any 02 pickup, I can't really...

have you tried fermenting and serving from the same keg without transferring?

No, I don't have a screen. I'd imagine that would just be a different clog point but I could be wrong. But if I can drop 10oz-12oz of hops into a keg and later serve from it without any ill effect on the beer, problem solved.

have you tried fermenting and serving from the same keg without transferring?

How about big happy NEIPAs? I guess you dry hop with a few points left to mitigate the 02 ingress when opening the lid. No issues with the large amount of hops? I'm fermenting a NEIPA in a keg now, with a floating dip tube. Just transferred to a serving keg that was purged with fermentation...

    Grainfather!!

Yeah...that's what I do. But this might make that unnecessary: Grainfather I was hoping I didn't have to be the guinea pig ;)

    Grainfather!!

Has anyone used the brewfather to control the grainfather? I see it's a beta option, but haven't tried it. I hate using 2 apps and much prefer brewfather.

Recommendations on basic kegging equipment needed

Definitely go with the EVA Barrier tubing and duotight fittings. No barbs and nipples and stretching hoses and having all different sized hoses. 4mm EVA, threaded ball locks, and duotight fittings will save you so many headaches. Works for gas. Works for liquid. Works for jumpers. Works...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

FWIW, Janish says late hop additions contribute significant eatery fruity and citrus flavors, beyond what you would get from dry hopping only. I don't think he addresses late vs whirlpool, but his conclusion was that if you're going for fruity, citrusy flavors, late additions can help you get...

    Love Golf?

I played that course a few years back and really enjoyed it. We had a course nearby with a GM who was very vocal about his opinion that golf should not have been closed. He finally announced that they were reopening in a few days. Our governor ended up reopening courses the next day anyway. 🤷‍♂️

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I just made my second batch of the Trinity Julius clone that mixes S04 with small amounts of T58 and WB06. My first batch was far and away the closest thing to what I've been chasing. I made this second batch on Sunday and tasted a gravity sample last night. Even though I haven't dry hopped...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I picked up a few growlers around Thanksgiving. I've also had small tastes at local beer fests and even at HomebrewCon in balitmore (a NEIPA for club night and some hoppy sours during Mike's presentation), which I think was before they opened. So I wouldn't say I'm overly familiar with their...
