    Mill Cleaning

Like Vale71 said, do not use water! Just simply brush off the dust. You don't even need to do that really but since my mill is stored in a closet I brush it off so I don't get grain dust everywhere when moving it. I simply turn my mill on its side and brush it off into my kitchen sink while...

    Ultra Barrier beer lines

See now, I don't have that problem at all. Not a single sample from the first 2-3oz I've tested pouring has ever been flat in any way. Quite to the contrary my first pull samples are always fully carbonated like the rest of the pours. Rev.

    Ultra Barrier beer lines

Ah I see. When I said I'd test again I meant I would take a first pour 3oz in-line sample and one right after. Not successive pours, just the first pour of the day. I am holding off on drinking much of these beers so that I have a bunch for my friends still on tap. So the first 3oz pours will be...

    Ultra Barrier beer lines

The beer was sitting in the line since the last time I tested. The second pour is the "clean" pour that wasn't sitting in the line. So I'm not sure what fast successive pours you're referring to. There's the beer in the line pour, and the beer that was in the keg not sitting in the line that...

    Ultra Barrier beer lines

Just an update, tested again today with just the hefe and the first 3oz of Hefeweizen was fine. I think I know what happened last test - I had swirled up both kegs a couple days before and pulled a glass and both were all filled with yeast so I stopped pouring and figured I'd let's the yeast...

    Too Cold During Fermentation

Honestly, unless you truly have reason to believe the beer went below 32 degrees I wouldn't worry about it. Even if it did I'm not too sure yeast cells would still freeze and expand at 32F in liquid beer (thus destroying their cells). And even if it did I doubt all the cells would be destroyed...

Did first beer with the Robobrew yesterday - can't say I had a great time

Only used it once so far, using it again tomorrow, so I haven't done a review yet. But I like it so far. The only gripe being the false bottom let's more finer particles through but I'm going to just strain going from the mash tun to kettle from now on with a double mesh strainer. Runoff flow is...

    Ultra Barrier beer lines

Do you use the John Guest fittings? Would this tubing be able to be heated at the tip and worked onto the standard beer tower elbow connector and ball lock disconnects or are the John Guest fittings pretty much required? Rev.

Where do you mill your grain?

No, unfortunately my kitchen is a small kitchen. Would be so excited to have an even bigger kitchen, but my kitchen does the job. Kitchen.... K I T C H E N. :) Rev.

    Ultra Barrier beer lines

Well, got curious and pulled a 3 oz sample in one glass and another in another glass. Did this for my hefeweizen and my Wit which are currently on tap. I did indeed find a noticeable difference. For the hefeweizen the first 3oz pull was undrinkable, I spit it out. The second pull tasted fine...

Steps to fix a TapRite regulator that very slowly creeps up in PSI

Thanks! That would definitely be worth a try before ordering a rebuild kit. One question though, I've always avoided opening the output valve to the keg after purging the headspace when set to a high psi like 30psi. The one time I did that it ruined my very first KegCo regulator. Ever since then...

Steps to fix a TapRite regulator that very slowly creeps up in PSI

Well, I set my PSI 3 low and it crept up 2psi and held steady. Gonna deal with it for now. Someday when I plan to have no kegs in the kegerator I'll probably try a rebuild for that side of the regulator. Just glad I'm not losing gas or continuously climbing. Rev.

    Ultra Barrier beer lines

They do state it's antimicrobial to 4000 liters so about 211 five gallon homebrew batches. I hear ya though, would be nice to know the material properties but I never tried emailing EJ as I've never had reason for concern, perhaps email them and see if they answer these questions. As for as...

    Question for Spike Unintank owners.

Wouldn't it stand to reason if your beer can make it to contact the crack and bacteria infect it that the sanitizer you sanitize the fermenter with before filling would also reach the same area and kill the bacteria before filling? Rev.

Steps to fix a TapRite regulator that very slowly creeps up in PSI

Anyone? I'm planning to reconnect the gas to the keg tonight, just want to know what y'all think. Guess I can just purge, connect it and set to 14psi, and see if it settles at 17psi. Or perhaps start a little lower then adjust up if needed. Rev.

    Ultra Barrier beer lines

Honestly, outside of the extra cost, I struggle to see why this beer line gets so ignored or sometimes scoffed at on this forum. Customer reviews across several online shops appear overwhelmingly positive. All I can say is I started with vinyl lines and good God that beer that sat in the lines...

I used these lines for two years and never had any oxidation issues. Rev.

    Ultra Barrier beer lines

Oh sorry, nope I'm not using them. I just heated the ends in very hot (but not boiling) water and worked them onto the elbows and disconnects then Oetiker clamped them. Rev.

Steps to fix a TapRite regulator that very slowly creeps up in PSI

So, I did some testing. The climb occurs still if I close the 90 degree output valve, but it only seems to climb a certain amount then stop. I tested purging the keg headspace, raising the PSI up to 17psi, then turning off the gas output to the keg then also disconnected the gas ball lock from...
