Thoughts or suggestions on my SMaSH recipe and process?

Looks pretty similar to a recipe I recently brewed, 10lb MO and 3oz Cascade which I think were fairly low AA% hops as well. 1oz each at 60, 30, and 5 minutes. If there were one change I would make it would be more hops. The beer is pretty balanced but I feel might be a little better with a...

Nelson Sauvin IPA - whew! grapes of wrath

Nelson is amazing, my favorite beer that I've had in the past 5 years is Societe's The Pupil IPA which is Nelson and Citra. I would LOVE to try to clone that if I could get my hands on some Nelson.

    Your homebrew pipeline...

I have been brewing every 2 weeks at the most and my pipeline is struggling. I don't think I drink that much beer and I actually don't have very many friends, so I don't know what's happening... I actually have a couple of batches that are almost done bottle conditioning, but I'll be taking...

Rehydrate Safale US05 YEs or NO?

One packet will be fine at that OG, and I agree that rehydrating is easy, especially if you just use a microwave to boil the water in a pyrex measuring cup, cool it in a small water bath, and add the yeast to the water at 95*-105*.

    When to pitch yeast.

A packet of dry yeast is way, way more than you need for a 1 gallon batch. Just FYI.

    Kölsch Bee Cave Brewery Kölsch

That is a really weird/cool carboy! Never seen one with such a big neck. Don't be surprised if that thick mucous-like krausen takes a long time to fall or your airlock keeps bubbling for a very long time. I usually do a week at low temp (low-mid 60s) then warm up to 72 and it just keeps...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Significantly missing OG with RIMS system

Are you taking all of your hydrometer readings at the same temperature (usually 60*F calibration)?

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Didn't have time to brew this weekend, but I was off today so I brewed a 3 gallon batch of imperial stout.

    re-boiled already boiled brew

So you cooled the wort in the kettle, put the lid on it, and put it in the fridge? it'll be fine. you don't need to boil it again. Pitch your yeast at the appropriate temperature when you can within a reasonable timeframe.

    Adhesive strip higher than 78?

Anyplace that sells tropical fish should have temperature strips for aquariums that read from about 75*-100*.

Checking my math on table sugar carbing.

Get yourself a little kitchen scale from Walmart or Target. They are handy for everything, especially brewing - weighing hops, sugar, etc. Definitely worth the investment. I bought one to weigh meat and have found a million uses for it since. I have been using about 96g of table sugar (about...

Durian cider - yes I went there.

Nice beard. Did you taste any of the fruit? My understanding is that the flesh of the fruit tastes good but the actual pod itself smells absolutely awful?

Any dry yeasts capable of handling 3gal of 1.100 OG wort?

Thanks guys for your advice. I ended up picking up two packs of BRY-97. Feeling good about this recipe, a minor adaptation to a Yeti clone recipe I found. First time brewing a big beer!

Any dry yeasts capable of handling 3gal of 1.100 OG wort?

My LHBS just opened recently and only has dry yeasts on the shelves for the moment. I also only have a 5 gallon mash tun, so I was thinking of brewing a smaller batch of imperial stout that I can tuck away in the back of the closet and forget about for a few months. The dry yeast selection is...

    Rice Hull Alternatives

A pound per 5 gallon batch is way overkill. A pound of hulls will fill a HUGE bag!
