    First Brew Questions

I did the same kit for my first beer, and I also fermented way too hot. I ended up with some fusels off flavors, but it was still very drinkable. As others have suggested, work on your fermentation temps from here on, and you'll be fine.

    Scottish Beers & Breweries

Just over a month to go until my trip across the pond! That Walking and Crawling blog is pretty cool. Doesn't look like he has much on the Highlands, but it's an interesting read nonetheless.

Well, I am officially a Texan

Welcome back to Texas! I don't like Dallas much either, which is why I live in the 'burbs!

    My wife passed away

Just seeing this thread for the first time. So very sorry for your loss, and I hope that brewing can help you in some small way with your recovery! God bless you and your family!

    Scottish Beers & Breweries

The wife wants to try to see the dolphins at Chanonry Point, so I'll make sure we swing by the Anderson on the way or as we're leaving.

    Scottish Beers & Breweries

Glad to find this thread. My wife and I are going to Scotland for a week in September. We'll be staying in Aviemore, so we're hitting the Cairngorm Brewery for sure. We're also making the drive through Glencoe, and I have the Clachaig Inn on my list already. I'll be happy for my Untappd app...

    Honest Self Assessments

I'm only just under a year in, and so far have brewed 7 beers. Everything I've brewed has been well-recieved by everyone who has tasted them, and I have people who wouldn't hesitate to tell me if it sucked. Plus, I have enjoyed the hell out of all of them, which is my main goal! I've made...

It's that time of year again...PUMPKIN!!!

I've got a pumpkin spice saison fermenting now. Smelled great boiling and fermenting. Hoping to bottle next weekend.

Yeah, sounds pretty odd...even for them!

    Jester King Brewery

Sounds like Flood is going to start getting more pushed out the the DFW market. They have a warehouse here now, so we'll see. I got a bottle of Provenance: Orange & Grapefruit in Flower Mound yesterday, along with some Jully Pumpkin stuff, which is now in Texas. Hard to argue with that!

    Really dumb BIAB question(probably)

I wish I had done something like that for my first BIAB. I also did a simple British Bitter, but it wasn't a style I had done before. And I'm doubling down by doing a comlex saison next. Oh well, one of the things I love about homebrewing is the experimenting with different things to see what...

Experienced BIAB Brewers – I Need Your Input

I have a 16 gallon Bayou Classic pot I bought when I went from extract to BIAB. It came with a ball valve, and that made things sooooo much easier. I whirlpool while the immersion chiller is in (has the added benefit of helping with the cooling process if I go in the opposite direction of...

This is the truth. You never stop learning.:tank:

What software do you use for BIAB?

I used Beersmith for my first BIAB, and I'm going to try out BIABacus this weekend. I found it confusing at first, but I think I have it figured out now.

Nhl playoffs, slander pride and predictions.

Go Stars! I've missed playoff hockey in Dallas, so glad it's back!

    Big Texas Beer Fest

Nice writeup! Sorry you're not going to be able to make it this year. I'm actually going to Cobra Brewing Company tonight. The Denton County A&M Club happy hour for this month is there. Looking forward to trying it out. I also need to check out Rabbit Hole, it's not far from my house, either.

    Brewing in Hot Climates

The a/c in my house is generally set on 75, and I keep my fermenters upstairs, where's its set in the 80s (we don't use that part of the house much). I'm able to maintain mid-60s fermentation temperatures with a swamp cooler setup in the August heat in Texas. I've got a big Rubbermaid bin that...

    Big Texas Beer Fest

Nice. My wife is going, but this is definitely for me, and not her! She might use half her tasting card, while I'll buy extras! :mug:
