    Oak Aging a Wee Heavy

    I have a wee heavy in a 10 gallon oak rum barrel for about three weeks now and it hasn't picked up much oak flavor. I think barrel size makes a difference in aging time.

    Bottling vs kegging

    I found my homebrew tastes better from a bottle then a keg. It's much clearer and seems to condition faster. Does anyone strictly bottle all of their homebrew?

    Maybe start with a pale ale with american ale dry yeast. That way if you decide to try dry hopping later you would still be true to style. Search the recipe section of the forum there are dozens of great recipes.

    First All Grain brew today!! feels great!

    Been brewing all grain for a few years now but part for me is the smell after mash in. My wife hates it so that keeps her out of the brewery when Im brewing.

    Drove out to Motor City Brewing Works and had tour of the brewery with one of the brewers. They have outstanding pizza and the Pale Ale hit the spot. Parking is a pain in the evenings but lunch time the lot is empty.

    Took a few of my barrels to a Cooper to have them filed and recharred. Left a half a liter of makers mark sit in the barrels for about a week and I was back in business. The toasted oak flavor was more pronounced but I'm sure it will be muted after the next batch. look locally for a Cooper...

    Sweet Potato Porter/stout

    This sounds like a great recipe....I was thinking about making a syrup of strained sweet potato, dark brown sugar and marshmellow flavored cane sugar syrup then adding it to a keg of stout that's already been aged.
