    Yeast starter calculator for iphone

Anyone know of a good free yeast starter calculator that I can access from my iphone? Mr Malty's now links to itunes store to purchase one in app form when I get to it through my phone. I may just bite the bullet and buy it, but wanted to check if anyone knew of any others first. Thanks.

    No Activity....24 hours later

Im working on a fermentation right now that I under-pitched as well due to no starter. Mine never really took off but I kept monitoring and checked after a week. Lo and behold, the gravity was down from 1.090 to 1.030. Last night I roused the yeast by gently rocking the fermenter back and forth...

What can i soak my vanilla beans in?

Im fixing to do the same thing. Read up lots on it and consensus is split many ways. Im gonna just toss them in the secondary after I rack it over. The alcohol present will kill off any undesirables. Ive heard of folks using bourbon or vodka as well.

    Messed it up

Hey guys. Brewed new beer Saturday. A holiday ale with ginger, molasses, pumpkin pie spice. It all smelled delicious but with an almost 20 lb grain bill, its bg. SG was 1.090 and I messed up by not making a starter. I pitched wyeast 1272 and then on sunday realized I underpitched and pitched...

First AG is super duper good

Just trying my first all grain brew. An ESB I borrowed from Brewsmith. Turned out spectacular. Way better than I thought I'd do for my first crack at it. I'd like to take a moment and thank all here for the comments and help I rec'd directly and indirectly from all the posts. Thanks a million.

    Help with base malt

Hey guys. Fixing to start my 2nd AG brew and the recipe calls for Northwestern Pale Ale Malt, Great Western (4.1 srm). Thing is, none of my lhbs carry it. Wondering what would be a good substitute? US Pale or UK, or something else entirely. Thanks.

    Ferment started : relieved

Brewed my first all grain yesterday. Started with an ESB that looked good. All went well except that I ended up with 3.5 G of wort instead of 5. My OG was way high due to this. After researching, I added 1.5 G of water to it when going in the fermenter, hoping I was ok. I was super relieved to...
