Having a party, want to offer a few, but not the whole keg!!

I love brewing beer. I have three taps and there is no way I can drink 15 gallons of beer myself. Last weekend I had a new keg I wanted to tap so I threw a " kill the keg" party. Bunch of guys came over after work and took out that keg and a good portion of another one. It's a nice compliment...

    When to add some Citra?

Agreed. Citra is fantastic for dry hopping.

Good way to spend a Friday night.

Haha, that's funny. I actually had a couple of hot dogs tonight with some homemade kraut even! :mug:

Good way to spend a Friday night.

What better way to spend a Friday night than sitting in the garage, brewing beer, drinking beer and listening to baseball on the radio? I have to stay it's a nice way to cap off a good week! Cheers!

    Guilty pleasures

Around here pretty much the only "craft" beers available at the bars are blue moon or Sam Adams, so I drink those quite often. I'm also not afraid to admit to drinking pbr or Coors light. It's damn refreshing.

    Straining hops before CFC

I think you'll really like it. I've used mine for a few brews now with good success.

    Straining hops before CFC

Try a hop spider with a paint strainer bag. You can wash the bags and use them indefinitely.

    Testing Alcohol During Fermentation?

Beer is rather forgiving so if you sanitize well, you shouldn't have a problem. I'm personally not a fan of leaving my beer in primary for extended periods if it's not necessary. I'll test gravity when fermentation appears to be done and then check a few days later. If it's stable, I cold crash...

    Angle Iron vs. Square Tube?

Yeah, I was leaning that way anyway but, was wanting to make myself a cheap stand cuz I don't own a welder or a chop saw. Would be a little wiser to just do it right and avoid possible mishaps.

    Angle Iron vs. Square Tube?

I've been thinking of building a stand out of bed frames myself, but want to make it large enough to fit a 1 bbl system in the future. Any reason why the metal from bed frames wouldn't be sufficient?

    Stuck Ferment?

Yeah, I might just keg it up but would like to hear some other opinions first. Anyone else want to chime in on this one?

    Stuck Ferment?

I had it in the coolest room of my house. Fermented around 62*, when it stopped after three days, I moved it to about 65*.

    Stuck Ferment?

With all the residual sugars from the high gravity, it will have more body to it. The sample tastes really good so it's not a loss by any means but I'm looking at a 3.8% abv porter. A light porter, perhaps?

    Stuck Ferment?

So, last Sunday I brewed up a porter and pitched a starter of American Ale II That was harvested from a previous brew. Brew went well and I actually hit my projected OG of 1.052. Fermentation started fine and went steady for three days then stopped. SG read 1.025. I roused the yeast a bit and...

    Broken Carboy Club

Every time I hear one of these stories it makes me consider switching to better bottles exclusively. Hope your hand heals quickly and glad you saved your brew! Could've been twice as tragic!
