    Home Brewish Taste

http://www.mrmalty.com/pitching.php Check out that page about pitching rates on Jamil's website. I also have noticed a MASSIVE difference in my beers when I went to making starters, following the recommendations on this pitching calculator. I'm not sure if I missed it in there, but are you...

How large of a flask should I get for a yeast starter?

I know that in one of the BN podcasts, JZ says that Chris White did independant tests and collaberated with him in creating the calculator. I see no reason not to trust either.

    Homebrew Supply Websites

Brewbrothers.biz is new, and I have already made several in store purchases from them. Great guys, and super low grain and hop prices. Best shop in the Portland area that I've found, and they keep getting better. Grand opening this weekend too!

I brewed this last Saturday on my double batch brew day. Took a Hydro sample today, sitting at 1.031, so still a bit to go but that sample tasted awesome! I am very much looking forward to this, thank you for sharing this excellent recipe BM!

    We Need More Beer Festivals!

I know that it probably goes without saying, but we have a ton of beer festivals here in Portland. It's taken me 6 states to realize it, but Oregon is THE place for beer enthusiasts to live!

The "bad advice I got from the LBHS" thread

Yeah, I've since tried several homebrewed and commercial smoked porters, and have yet to try one that I could finish. In retrospect, I am almost certain that this was an old kit that they probably were more than happy to unload on the unsuspecting kid I was at the time.

    Egregious Errors

I was listening to one of the older Brewing Network Podcasts the other day, probably Sunday Session, and someone called in with just about this exact question. Jamil and the rest of the gang all told him that going to full boils would be the step that could create the most impact.

The "bad advice I got from the LBHS" thread

First time I ever decided to brew, I went into my shop and got a bunch of equipment, everything I needed. I proceeded to look at the vast array of kits, and the guy comes over and picks up the "Smoked Porter" kit, and tells me I should give it a try. I was really new to craftbeers, Sierra Nevada...
