i wouldnt worry about the liquid touching the gas in tube. as long as you can put the lid on it all good. gas will still go into the keg even if the liquid is higher than the end of tube.

when i made mine i put the chips in a glass and filled it with bourbon and let it sit for a few days. then i dumped them both into the secondary. this method allows you to sanitize the chips and presoak the wood so it wont float(as much).

you can try putting the co2 line on the out post and giving it a quick burst of high pressure. if your are right that one of the tea balls opened, then it will be likely to clog again.

it looks like there are some uncrushed grains in there. that is not a good thing if thats the case. personally i crush a little finer than that.

nice! I just got back into town. If anyone hasnt heard they closed a section of the north bound turnpike due to some bridge damage. it took me an hour to go 10 miles. i heard it will be closed for a while so if anyone has holiday travel plans you should avoid this part.
