    foward seal just means that the faucet is sealed near the front so as not to allow alot of the inside to be exposed to air.

    My brew pot leaks...

    i had an aluminum pot that did the same thing. over time it just stopped leaking. i didnt do anything to it. i think that mineral deposits from my water sealed it up.

    the hand crush pain

    i tried to hand crush when i first got my BC. it was fun for the first 5 minutes. then i realize i had only crushed about %15 of my bill. then i attached the drill and never looked back.

    Belgian style bottling (Champagne bottles)

    i used Martinelli’s sparkling cider bottles. they can be recapped with a standard bottle cap. walmart sells them for about 2.50 a bottle. i was lucky and bought them in bulk from sams club for less. plus you get to enjoy their yummy cider.

    Stir plate.....waste of money or worth it?

    you dont need a stir plate to rehydrate dry yeast. it is recommended if you are planning on increasing pitching rates of liquid yeast.

    50qt Igloo Ice Cube

    personally i hate my 48 qt igloo ice cube. it loses 3-4 degrees in less than half an hour. i would recommend a better insulated cooler unless you dont mind adding hot water additions mid way through the mash.

    yes. get it down as quickly as possible. for most yeast you should ferment near 68 degrees.

    i think i was just happy at first to be having a beer. it had been a long day of traveling. once i had some time to analyze it i became less happy( i should say less hoppy because for an ipa it lacked hops).

    I can't believe I never thought of this before

    you can calibrate it in beer programs so it automatically gives you the correct reading with out the extra math. this only works if you use certain beer software.
