    What will my result be?

It was definitely maltodextrine. Coopers called it "beer enhancer". LHBS said it was basically sugar and I could keep it for sugar to use when bottling. It was a 5 gal batch.

    What will my result be?

Got a Coopers's Real Ale kit from my sister a while ago. Took it down to my LHBS where they told me not to use the maltodextrin that comes with it, and sold me 3 lbs of Muntons light dme to use instead. I still used the pre-hopped lme that came with it. Any ideas what my end result will taste...

    Before I get started

I plan on brewing in my garage with my propane setup this winter. Once the snow hits, I'm gonna have to I think. Might feel nice with the heat, and I won't complain about the smell!

    Extract brands

I've done 3 extract kits so far, all have turned out pretty dang good. 2 from Brewer's Best (English brown ale, and holiday ale), and one from Homebrew.com (Yukon scotch ale). The LHBS only carries Brewer's Best, which is fine, but I was curious if any of the other brands (midwest brewing...

    looking to spice things up

So i have a Cooper's Real Ale kit that my sister gave me. I wasn't too excited about it cause it didn't really seem like a flavor i was really in to. Talked to the folks at the local LHBS and they said bring it in and they'll give me some suggestions for stuff to flavor it with. But, I wanted to...

    First Batch Tomorrow

Here's some things I take out with me when i'm brewing; (note: I brew outdoors. Indoor brewing probably won't require all of this) Ice, something big enough to fit ice, water, and brew pot in (I use a storage container for cooldowns), can opener, knife or scissors, kitchen timer, oven gloves...

    Aeration?

I had a friend tell me today that once your beer has been fermenting for about a week, you should crack it open and aerate it again to get the yeast active again. Any truth to this?

what do you use to take gravity samples?

I was all excited about doing my batch correctly and taking readings with my hydrometer so I could tell when it was done fermenting. Then I opened the hydrometer and it fell out and broke...And local store is of course closed on sundays. Sigh...

    Beginner question

So I made a batch of Yukon scotch ale Monday, and it is fermenting in my basement right now. Had bubbles for 2 days. Check on it today and no bubbles. When I push gently on the lid, I do get bubbles though. Is there anything I'm doing wrong or should look out for? I had this with the first batch...

    Cold crashing

When cold crashing, should you wait until your beer is fully fermented, or when it is close to fermented?

    Hey!

Hey folks! Pretty new to brewing, but am enjoying it. I've got a simple setup; brewers best beginners kit and a turkey fryer basically. My first brew was a dark English ale (Newcastle-ish) that I was very impressed with. Just brewed my second today; a Yukon Scottish ale that I'm pretty excited...
