    Yeah I'm doing extract with, usually, 2.5 gallon boils. How much will adding more water to the boil affect the color? And will it affect anything else? I imagine OG would be different from expected. Guess I'll have to do some research on it. Thanks!

    Here's A picture of 4 different beers that I have brewed. An amber ale, a scotch ale, a cherry wheat, and a spiced amber. They all look the same to me. Anyone else find that as a common thing? They all tasted different, it just bothers me (for no particular reason) that they all look the same.

    5 or 6. I'll never use ice again. Took my cool -down time down at least 60%. Way worth it.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

    Did a spiced amber ale with an extract kit. Got to use my immersion chiller and carboy for the first time. Chillers. Are. AWESOME. took my chill time down by about 60%. Hit my gravity right on, and I've been checking every couple hours since I can actually watch it ferment now.

    I've also found this works really well. Learned the hard way after a big boil-over on my first batch. Haven't had any problems since with my turkey fryer.

    Pretty beautiful if ya ask me. On a side note, is it necessary to use a carboy as a secondary? All I have is buckets...first time using a secondary.
