    Fast Souring - Modern Methods

I've got a new one... (@RPh_Guy? ;))... My current gose fermenting, used the co-pitch method with Smanson L. plantarum tabs, which I had great results in a previous gose with. But after 5 days of fermenting it's really not that sour at all, so I'm wondering if it's possible to add more in the...

    Fast Souring - Modern Methods

Yeah but 10L, not much of a loss if you do have to dump the odd batch.

    Fast Souring - Modern Methods

When I did my first sour I bottled a couple of litres before racking the rest onto fruits. That "pure" sour was lovely, loads of citrus flavour, so really looking forward to experimenting with just grains and yeasts over time, and the idea of bottling half and then racking the other half onto...

Souring [the good type] during secondary fermentation?

50% pils malt and 50% wheat malt, has worked great for the two sours I've done so far! Do you have any variations you've tried on that grai bill that also worked, maybe added something different to the final result?

    Fast Souring - Modern Methods

@RPh_Guy (and anyone else), the two sours I've made used your suggestion for a simple recipe of 50% pilsener, 50% wheat... wondering if you have any variations on this (though still keeping it simple) that you might suggest I could try for my next one?

Sour recipe suggestion, maple, vanilla, lactose...?

The passion fruit sour I made was amazing, and having had some creamier sours am curious too.

Sour recipe suggestion, maple, vanilla, lactose...?

Thinking another sour for my next batch (I love 'em, and the two sours I've done so far both rocked!). I have some lactose powder, natural maple extract, and natural vanilla extract... would some sort of dessert/pastry sour make sense at all...? Previous sours were a passion fruit, and a lime...

Can I add lactose on bottling day?

How much lactose would you add if doing it this way? And the same amount of priming sugar as normal, or less if adding lactose too?

Cocao nibs in a stout, is it possible to add at flameout rather than fermenter?

Appreciate all the feedback guys. So looks like there's a range of ways to add 'em, and I can do so before going into the fermenter. I might try that, and then if I sample a tiny bit from the tap after a few days if it's not chocolate enough I can carefully add some more in the fermenter, if I...

Cocao nibs in a stout, is it possible to add at flameout rather than fermenter?

I've had some oxidation issues with a couple of NEIPAs I've made, so along with staying away from that style until I get a better (closed) system in place, I also want to make a couple of beers that don't require me to open the fermenter at any stage prior to bottling. First off the bat is a...

I need a quick turnaround pale or red ale BIAB recipe?

Hey brewing buddies!! I just realised I have a very short time frame before I won't be able to brew for a while due to some house sitting and temp accommodation for a couple of months, but am hoping to fit a final brew in before that starts... looking for a simple pale or red ale recipe...

    Jalapenos baby...

So my lime & jalapeno gose rocks!! May need a little more carbonation for the head, or if not changing another week in the bottle maybe something in the recipe to improve that. Otherwise live it!! Recipe here: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/896268/gose-lime-jalapeno (just...

Yep, so not what the thread's about... ;)

Half full bottle very different from others...

Ah okay. Interesting if so, so if others are as good (or better after a little more carbonation) than the first two, I'll have learned one more thing to watch out for just that little bit more when bottling...

Half full bottle very different from others...

Why would oxidation be present in a single bottle? Unless you mean from the larger head space.

    Newbie question

(I also probably had about 30 posts in this forum alone before I made my first brew, just to be sure I covered all the basics... ;) )

    Newbie question

First time brewing, I'd go for a much simpler recipe with less hops ($$$) than a NEIPA. The recipe section in this forum not a bad place to start, loads of great recipe ideas and you can easily ask questions of the poster before brewing. Or start with an all-grain kit as recommended above. I...

Half full bottle very different from others...

This is probably the ultimate newbie question... ;) Tasted a NEIPA I brewed last night, bottled a little over a week ago... and the first bottle I opened ROCKED!! So good I had to open a second... same quality/taste/amazingness!! I am going to leave the rest for another 5-7 days to get a...

Coriander seeds - didn't grind them, issue?

That's what's happening with an IPA I tried secondary fermenting with tinned pineapple = lesson learned, never use tinned fruits! But yeah, slowly getting through the beer, good when it's really hot, or I'm already a little drunk... ;)
