    High gravity brewing advice

Thanks for the responses! Until my friends and I invest in an O2 tank we have been using an aquarium pump, what are your thoughts on that? Another question with the yeast starter should start it, decant it after 48 hours and throw another DME solution in it? If so how long should I let that go...

    Carboy Headspace

It is a beautiful piece of work. Best part of it is that we stumbled on it at a friends house that we brew at and he "donated" it to our brewery. We have a stopper and hose ready to blow out. Can't wait to get this ball rolling. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Carboy Headspace

Hello brewers I have a burly stout recipe that I'm preparing to put into action. I'm hoping for a gravity around 1.090 or higher. Reading a couple recipes I have noticed some people spit their wort into 2 carboys to alleviate for a vigorous fermentation. I happened to have stumbled onto a giant...

    Natural selection of sprouts

Hello fellow growers. My rhizomes are going into their second year and sprouting with some gusto. Should I choose the 3 strongest and chop the rest this early in the season or wait? The tallest (my Columbus) are each peaking at about 13" now any suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Who has experience with coffee and chocolate?

I have heard of people soaking boos into their wood chips and adding it to the secondary. Would the alcohol threaten the yeast activity at all? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Who has experience with coffee and chocolate?

:ban: Looking to brew an imperial coffee stout soon. Are there any suggestions in the amount to brew with when to add it? I have heard adding it to the end of the boil will add flavor as well extract some of the caffeine, thoughts? As well what would be the best time to add chocolate to get...

Does using dextrose in the boil cause cloudiness?

Tried to make a barley-wine and per my friends suggestion I added dextrose during the last 5 minutes of the boil. It's been about a month and the brew is almost milky in appearance. Is there a way to clear it up?

Gravity not dropping? 4 batches at 1.026

we actually did start with that. we had a water heater jacket on it and it didn't quite fit and because of that we were loosing about 10 degrees. so we wrapped the kettle and foil and applied about a 3 in coating of foam insulator. Im confident that it will work we just need to be in a warmer...

Gravity not dropping? 4 batches at 1.026

:rockin:The mash has been a nightmare actually, we have been brewing in a garage and despite the best efforts of our propane heater its been a cold 1 record low temps in our city. I would say the garage temp was anywhere from low 60's to low 50's. Maintaining the mash temp was a battle. our...

Counter flow chiller working too well?

Hello y'all. A friend of mine and I built a counter flow chiller in which we are using water from a garden hose. We are experiencing a strong winter and when we use our counter flow chiller the wort is coming out slightly chilled. I pitched the yeast like usual. Is there any need to be concerned...
