    Sanke kegs

I got tired of leaky corneys so I switched to Sankes a while back. I've done both force carbing and priming sugar with no problem. Just remember that just like any keg, you need to reduce the amount of priming sugar you use to avoid over carbing. Edit: I'll leave it to others to cover all the...

    Forbidden Chicken Fruit

You could also try meringue powder if using real eggs gave you pause.

From a porch, comes a barrel?

Too bad you aren't building it from a torn down outhouse. That would really just bring this whole thing full circle.

    New BruControl Build

March's guide says that motor top mounting can "create an air pocket within the pump chamber and may cause problems"...

Good luck! Thanks for doing this, my brother lost his best friend to MS.

    Dogs

Gino just celebrated his 11th birthday. He is now 10 months past being diagnosed with cancer and being given 2 months to live. Coincidentally, we have the same birthday. My daughter made him a birthday cake, it is a pumpkin and dog food pancake with peanutbutter frosting.

    Cooking Oil vs Fermcap

Looks fine for head retention. Can't taste it either. This beer is pretty light so there isn't much to hide an off flavor behind.

12 Beers of Christmas 2018 Edition

Ha, I like that. Off to a rough start, one of my dog's tumors ruptured to I had to run to the vet after I mashed in, so it ended up mashing for 2 hours. Sparge is done ramping up to boil and prepping my spice and herb blend.

Need to brew again, what is your beer pipeline

I use Sankes, and it's a mix of 1/6bbl (5 gal), 30L (8 gal), and half barrels (15 gal). I switched from cornies to Sankes a couple years ago and never looked back. I never had anything but problems with cornies. I treat buying kegs like buying guns, always buy, never sell, and figure out the...

Need to brew again, what is your beer pipeline

I make 15g batches and I have enough kegs for 11 batches at a time. So, I brew whenever I have enough kegs empty for a batch. Typically, I'll put one keg of the batch on tap right away but, style permitting, I usually store a keg or two for later use. Having stored kegs let's me brew whatever...

    Cooking Oil vs Fermcap

Very nice. My oil experiment beer has been in the keg for about 4 days. It's too early to tell any effects of the head, but so far I can report no off flavors. I'll report back when it's carbed.

12 Beers of Christmas 2018 Edition

Did you follow the spice/herb stuff in mosher's recipe? I was debating a couple of tweaks, but I'm probably still a couple of weeks from brewing

    Getting a good whirlpool

Oops, I should have specified, I meant that for OP. He didn't mention a rest and I wanted to ensure he was doing one and not going straight from spinning to pumping out.

    Getting a good whirlpool

How long are you resting after the whirlpool? I spin it for 15 minutes, turn the pump off, and let it sit for 15 before pumping out of the kettle.

    Dogs

My condolences. Gino is now 2 months past his estimated six months too live. Stubborn dog is doing ok, the tumor on his head is about the size of a softball, he is blind in one eye and deaf in one ear, but he still manages to get up on the table to eat anything left out. He just destroyed a bag...

    Cooking Oil vs Fermcap

I'm not sure. I'm not a scientist, I walk a dog for a living, so I'll leave it to smarter folk than me to figure that out. Every time that I lean towards one, I think of an argument for the other. I'm curious too. To be honest, I didn't think it would work so I'm already pretty pleased. This...

    Cooking Oil vs Fermcap

Boiling away now with no problems. Looks like it never got past maybe 1/4 inch of foam or so. So far it's pretty much up to the same performance as my usual defoamer. Big questions now are, will it affect the head and will it have a flavor effect... Update, no photo cause it's too reflective...

    Cooking Oil vs Fermcap

Woah, so it hit 200 and I thought for sure it was going to boil over, and then as it started to bubble it all broke up. Here it is at a rolling boil. 205F, due to elevation.
