    Grossy's Garage Brew Pub Build

Thanks! Northern Tool is close by. Too bad its not in stock in stores. I guess its expensive, but it sure fills a need nicely. So its worth it to me anyway!

    Morgue Table to Brew Stand?

I'm with you. Thats a hell of a conversation peice, and it might work for brewing, but there isnt any level of cleaning or sanitizing that would tell my brain that there wasnt once a dead body on that.

Awesome build! Where did you find that swivel joint you have on your water piping? Thats pretty much what I am looking for to do something very similar!

Question for the Kamado ceramic owners

Congrats on the new grill! I have a Kamado Joe as well and I love it. I havent used the propane grill, the Weber Kettle, the Weber Smoky Mountain, or my UDS since I bought it. I do need to get a new gasket however. I burned it out by making many max temp pizza's.

BOMM oops moment. Left it way too sweet!

Yeah. That was my thought too.

BOMM oops moment. Left it way too sweet!

It was "older" I dont have the packs anymore, so I dont remember off hand. I want to say they were dated Oct 14. I thought they might have been old, so I pitched 2 packs. The LHBS didnt have anything fresher.

BOMM oops moment. Left it way too sweet!

Yep. Brought everything back into suspension, it just settled down again and the gravity didnt change.

BOMM oops moment. Left it way too sweet!

Good to know! Would you suggest running the wine whip through it again? Or would introducing oxygen at this point be bad? I havent checked my PH, I need to get some strips...... Its already 7 weeks old. Not that I am in a hurry, but whats the usual extra time you find you need with a larger mead?

BOMM oops moment. Left it way too sweet!

So, my reading comprehension failed me when making my BOMM. I started with a much to high gravity, ~1.12 - 1.13 (im pretty sure thats what it was, I'm at work and dont have my notes in front of me.) I used 1388 yeast and it did its job fine. Its sitting at ~1.024 right now. That gives me...

Is there a mead yeast calculator?

Maybe Ive been doing it wrong, but its worked out for me. I use the same calculations for beer as mead. Sugars are sugars as far as yeasts go in my experience. It hasnt been an issue so far. For instance my current BOMM, I used to smack packs of 1388 with an original gravity of 1.12 I didnt...

How much cider do you currently have bottled/kegged or fermenting?

5 gallons in secondary with cherry juice.

    Worst thing I've ever tasted

I used an even thinner amount 1:10, I had 1.5# with 15# clover honey.

    Worst thing I've ever tasted

I got a 3# jar at my local farmers market of buckwheat honey. I thought it was good. It didnt have a strong molasses or barnyard flavor at all..

    Cranberries in mead

I did 4# in 5 gallons, boiled until they burst, and put in the primary right away. No cranberry tartness, just a bit of flavor, but thats what I wanted. I think you will get more tartness in the secondary, but the strawberry will probably cancel that out.

    What Is Your Carrry?

Depends on what I'm wearing I guess. S&W 637 Airweight Walther PPS 9mm Taurus 1911 I generally prefer my 1911, its just not always practical to carry.

    Cranberry Mead

It was nothing too extravagant. 5 Gallon recipe 15# Costco honey (its what I can readily get and its reasonably priced) 1# Buckwheat honey Cranberries prepared like above Standard nutrients Boiled and cooled water to top up to 5.5 gallons. Added 2 packets EC-1116 Standard SNA schedule. I...
