Yeah there is pretty much nothing left after I transfer out of the BK and I may lose a half gallon in the pumps and hoses. Pretty new system and new fermenters. I assumed these things could hold a lot more and I didn't only have 3.75 gallons but worth asking I suppose
I have the 30 liter and am getting my first use out of it. So far so good but 5 gallons looks like only half of the container. Can these things hold a lot more than 7.5 gallons or are my sight glasses' measurements way off?
Wow- I didn't know people with good taste in beer didn't like us bass players. Yeah if you like a boring bass line, we can be replaced by a piano players left hand. Damn I feel useless.
Guess my degree in music is as useless as skills on bass...
Thanks for the advice! I was worried it would be too malty for my liking but I'll add slightly more and taste it. I can't imagine it'll be undrinkable but if it is, I guess I can always make a hop tea.
I'll probably go with a 6 oz dry hop. I usually layer 2 oz dry hop 3-5 days apart for my...
I brewed up a batch yesterday and everything went great. The only hiccup was that I had too much volume. I scaled it up to 12 gallons and ended at 13. I figured I had lost about 4 points to that extra gallon and added a lb of DME towards the end of the boil with out testing the wort first...
Next year I'll post before heading down there. It's now an annual trip for the wife and I. We had such a great time in line last year we went back. The line does suck but it sure helps to make friends in line. We were 5th in line on Saturday Feb 2nd morning. RR opened early at 10:30 to let us in...
Can this set up lager a beer at 38 degrees F and have an ale fermenting next to it at 65 degrees or even higher like a saison? I am wondering how the reptile heaters against the plastic would handle the extremes- for instance would the tape become too hot over prolonged exposure and damage the...
Just a really dumb question to make sure we are covering all of the bases here:
What are your serving temps? If it's too cold, you'll kill that wonderful aroma.
I won't transfer to secondary normally. From much reading on this forum I understand it is not typically needed.
Several people say that you need to leave it in Primary to 'clean up' off flavors from the yeast. From my readings, I understand that this could be due to several factors. I...
Thanks for the details LA Brewer! I am not sure if the cons are enough for me to say no to it.
Twalte- I am not an expert but hopefully someone can help out here. Seems like a good deal.
Definitely let us know how this one works for you. I am going to grab a different drill for my mill after the advice here and it seems like either one of the Harbor Freight drills will work.
