May the 4th be with you- what are you brewing for Nat'l Homebrew Day?

Thanks Uniondr! Now I have to break it to my friend who owns the shop and is inviting everyone over on the 4th that he's off by a day.

Well- there's an epic fail... I'm not changing the name though:ban:

May the 4th be with you- what are you brewing for Nat'l Homebrew Day?

It's coming up- National Homebrew Day! I am brewing at my LHBS with 5-6 other homebrewers. I just got an upgrade to a 20 gallon system so my plan is to max out the mash tun and pull 5 gallons off for a barley wine to be oaked in an Hungarian 7 GL barrel and partigyle a 10 gl pale ale with the...

My adventure of opening a brewery in Chicago

We're in the planning stages and thinking about this one: http://www.bru-gear.com/store/p3/3BBL_Brewery.html

I need your support - brewing one beer a day for a year!

Liked the Facebook Page. Love the idea. I'd like to see you try the Lithuanian Beer discussed in this forum. I like the Prepackaged 1 gallon brew idea someone had mentioned. I think I could swing one but I'd need help on a one gl recipe. I currently do 15 gl. Sure I could figure it out...

    I have the best SWMBO

She ok'd the purchase of a new BK, MT, and HLT. Plus she always helps me clean and tolerates my general absentmindedness. She's also gotten me propane on a few occasions. In a paraphrase of the wise words of Dr Evil; She completes me. And she gets my dumb sense of humor...

    I tried Pliny the Younger

I waited. It was good. I liked last year's better. I wouldn't say Waitng in line or traveling places for beer constitutes idiots. Hell- the line is half the fun and I met some great folks from Chicago that are sending me hard to get beers. Although it does suck that your inlaws drove 5 hours and...

How old is your oldest beer? (And is it drinkable)

I thinks its based on one of these HB stout recipes but I don't remember off hand. I'll look up the recipe when I get home and PM it to you. If the OP is ok with me posting it here, I would but don't wat to overthrow the thread.:off: And back to your regularly scheduled programming:drunk:

How old is your oldest beer? (And is it drinkable)

I hid my T.A.M.B.A.S. Stout (Thick as Mud, Black as S***) and it's about 3 years old at this point. It's overcarbed but if you pour it into a 25 oz glass and let it settle, it is one of my favorites. I've brewed it several times and kegged it but the overcarbed bottles are still around. Still...

    "People have died drinking homebrew..."

Fixed that for yeah :tank: Her post on beer and the person the OP was talking about are proof that good intentions and good deeds are as far apart as Heaven and Hell.

    Are hipsters ruining craft beer?

***Edit does this make me a hipster now? Or are the Eagles so uncool that it's cool to like them? Or... aw f*** it, I need a beer. My head hurts.

    Are hipsters ruining craft beer?

It's just a trend like any other. Soon they'll come up with a new name to identify themselves as and it will be 'the in thing' to bag on hipsters and identify with the new term. SSDD The only thing I don't get is doing something ironically. You're still doing it- doesn't make it cool because...

My attempt at a 20 gallon, future-prrof system with stout tanks

It sits like any other pot. The bottom outlet is covered by an SS skirt so the it sits flat. I thought the same thing at first but Stout cleared that up for me. Mine work great

    Are hipsters ruining craft beer?

Why do hipsters love ice? Because ice was water before it was cool Seriously though- I was called a hipster once. I thought you had to have one of them fancy, curly moustaches to qualify. Pay no mind- I laughed and drank my fancy beer. I'll wear whatever I like as well as drink whatever...

    Beer bottles

I can offer a little help. Green, Clear, and Blue bottles look interesting but try to stick to the amber bottles- this says it better: http://ec.libsyn.com/p/8/d/d/8dde0d6c5d348121/bbrskunking.pdf?d13a76d516d9dec20c3d276ce028ed5089ab1ce3dae902ea1d01c18737d1cd590894&c_id=1452594

    Worst. IPA. Ever.

I still haven't met a person who like's Roscoe's... I'm not judging someone else's perception, just expressing my own. I see where you are coming from with some posts in this thread though.

    Worst. IPA. Ever.

Couldn't resist... not sure why it showed up twice...

    Worst. IPA. Ever.

It was at Savemart and on sale. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt since it had to make the trek accross country but I can't. I gave Majic hat the benefit of the doubt and I still didn't like them. Not my style- not a bad beer just not for me. Roscoe's- that was bad.

    Worst. IPA. Ever.

I dare anybody to tell me this was good: My wife got it thinking we could try something new. It was awful. I don't like to bash beers because everyone's tastes are different but I am sorry- this was bad all around. I refused to drink it. My wife did as well and we had to toss it.
