    Attention new all grain brewers!

I am about to start my first AG brew. It has 13.25 pounds of grains (including speciality) and using 1.1 quarts per pound I would start with 14.57 quarts of water. For the half gallon per pound, that would give me 6.6 gallons of sparge water. This is a 5 gallon kit. So I just start off with the...

    Light beer gone dark....

I made a Belgian Witbier extract and it came out WAY darker than it was supposed to. Belgian Witbier should have the color close to Blue Moon, and this came out as a dark amber color... Is this from over caramelization? I followed the recipe to a T... What will help me maintain the color I am...

Starting water amount for extract brew

Do you think it is a better idea to start with a concentrate and then fill to 5 gal or start off with 5 gal and adjust for evaporation? I did have a recent brew that was about .008 S.G. than the range on the instructions. Is that because of the full boil? I have the capabilities for a full boil.

Starting water amount for extract brew

I was playing around with beersmith and according to that, the amount of water you start off with can cause different bitterness/S.G. and etc. I have a 15 gal Blichmann Boilermaker. My first few batches I have been starting off with 5.5 gallons (account for .5 gal boiling off). Is this ok...

My small brewery.... Thats what i call it anyway..

Haha I finally got my "chigger" chugger pump. I havent used it as of yet. Gravity flow works well with Blichmann Therminator. I also purchased a 14.8 cu ft chest freezer and a Johnson A419 Digital Temperature Controller for Lagering beer.

    Blichmann Conical Fermenter Question

So my Belgian Witbier has been fermenting in a Blichmann Conical for over a week now. As it finished fermenting I moved to fermenter to my garage where it could cold crash (its roughly 40 degrees in there) and added Gelatin Finings to help clear. It sat in there for 2 days. As I opened the...

    Newbie Question

I've always wandered how you match your grains to get the flavor/color you want.. Can anyone give me a rundown on how this works, or how to figure it out...
