    Stirring instead of shaking?

Cloudy is not necessarily bad. How does it taste? Post a pic if you can, We cannot tell much by just the description. Too much good beer is dumped because it MIGHT be bad - and usually isn't.

    Low attenuation due to extract?

What was the mash temperature? Have you checked the calibration of both your thermometer and hydrometer? You are not using a refractometer for FG are you? IMO the extract will make the wort a little less fermentable, but by how much, IDK.

    Should I be worried?

There are several of questions that come to mind. How old was the pack? What is the OG of the Stout? How was the pack stored prior to use? I always make a starter when using liquid yeast. IMO, for anything over 1.040 I would make a starter to be sure I am pitching enough healthy cells...

    Stirring instead of shaking?

Welcome You want to introduce lots of oxygen into the wort to help the yeast ferment it. You can shake the vessel, use a drill and an attachment that will get air into the wort, an oxygen kit etc. After that you want to keep the vessel closed. Any further addition of oxygen is bad. It...

    Pitched yeast at 28c. Disaster?

I would say that if you had to move it to a warmer room to get fermentation started, the temperature was OK by the time it got going. I would not expect anything too off if at all. Even at 82 for a while with fermentation, it would not likely be a dumper, unless you are really fussy.

excess c02... fermentation restart.... why is this happening all of a sudden?

I may be mistaken about what is in the coatings, but whatever it is I would rather it be used in fermenting my wort than fermenting a starter. Most dry yeast is not very expensive. In my experience it is less expensive to buy another pack of dry yeast than to make a starter. I also believe...

Questioning the practice of checking FG twice to determine if FG has been achieved

Late to this one and all that I say has probably already been stated. (I didn't read all the replies.) But to the OP.. Bubbles are a terrible way to determine how a fermentation is progressing. Especially if using buckets which are notorious for leaking co2, thus very little or no bubbling of...

excess c02... fermentation restart.... why is this happening all of a sudden?

Not that it has anything to do with the problem at hand, but DO NOT make a starter with dry yeast. They are coated with sterols and nutrients that are used up in the starter and not in fermenting your beer. If you are really just rehydrating the yeast - that is fine. Although studies have...

    Cold crash?

I have tried cold crashing but didn't see much of a difference in clarity. What I have seen is TIME. If you wait until the beer clears before bottling it should be just about as clear as a beer that has been cold crashed. That said, I have had beers that I left in primary that never really...

    Pale ale feedback

Any beer that has extract will be darker and a bit sweeter than a commercial or even all grain version. It is the process of making the extract and it's subsequent use that is the cause. You can lessen the darkening by adding most of the extract after the wort is taken off the heat.

2nd brew bottled 3rd just started.

I've almost always tried a bottle at 2 weeks. I would say maybe 60% were properly carbonated. ALL of them have tasted better at 3 weeks or longer. Much longer for some styles. For instance my Russian Imperial stout took over a year to reach it's peak in flavor. I finished the last bottle...

    Consistent 1.006 FG

For me .004 is close to my acceptable error factor in just reading the gravity. But I would be surprised that every recipe is truly exactly 1.006. I can't imagine that happening. I would look for the calibration temperature of the hydrometer, it is usually printed on the paper scale inside...

    Refrigerate after bottling?

If you are worried about chill haze. I put some in the fridge one day for the next evening. Unless I forget, then I put them in when I think of it and drink them when cooled enough.

    sprinke or re-hydrate

At least one manufacturer had gone away from the recommendation to rehydrate after doing comparisons and finding little to no difference. I don't remember which manufacturer that was.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Nuclear has it's own problems, making it's "green" footprint questionable, but you are right it doesn't add to co2 footprint. I am torn on nuclear. It is clean, with a couple of exceptions it is safe, but there is the problem to do with storing the waste material. But again semantics...
