Ever brew a beer - and hate it?

Every time I brew a Hefeweisen. Which I am forced to do every year at Oktoberfest. A lot of people seem to really enjoy that beer, but I just can't stand it.

Craft Bier has a long way to go to catch pre-prohibition!

I belive that if you calculated volume per capita, we are probably brewing a lot more now than we were then.

    Sacramento Brews?

You are missing the best brew pub in Sac. River City Brewing has the best food and some really good beer. I recommed the Vienna to start with. The food there is top notch. It is located in the K Street Mall right before you go into Old Sacramento. The beer is on par with Hoppy Brewing, but the...

    Craft Brew industry revenue?

Look at the annual reports on the Boston Brewing, red hook, and pyrimid websites. You will find plenty of financial information there. Revenue, expneses, profits... all the good stuff.

Why did you increase your batch size?

Economy of scale. I have started buying grain and hops in bulk, and washing yeast. I con do a 10 gallon batch for about $25. Also, with a 5-gallon batch, as soon as I get to know the beer it is gone. With 10-gallon batches, I can get-to-know and enjoy my beer.

    MoreBeer.com & Liquid Malt Extracts

From what I understand, the reason that alot of people do not like using amber or dark malt extract is that you do not know what kind of malt they used to achieve the color. Light or pils (L/D)ME is clearly from one grain source and can be added into any recipe as the base grain.

    coleman extreme 70qt

I used the gaskets that came with the cooler. It fits snugly around a 1/2" nipple. I connected a 1/2" ball valve on one side and a 1/2" copper fitting to the other and connected the CPVC manifold right up to it. No Problems.

    Keezer build question

I wnat to be able to put some kegs on the hump. So that will decide how tall I make the collar. I also want to match the wood to the pool table and other wood shelves that I have in my game room.

    Keezer build question

Yeah, I know it will be expensive. That is why I am trying to find out what others have done. I am not big on reinventing wheels. There are several very good looking keezers on this board. I have considered Doug Fir with a 1/4" oak veneer, Redwood, 1x6 oak. I am totally up in the air on the...

    Keezer build question

Hi All, I recently purcahsed my freezer, faucets, other items to build my keezer. My question to all of you that have completed this type of project is: What kind of wood did you use for the collar? I see most of the collars are 2x6 - 2x8. I have not been able to find Oak or any other finish...

Seattle to Russian River Beer Pilgrimage - what else lies between?

While you are in Sacramento, be sure to try River City Brewing, The Rubicon, and Hoppy Brewing Co. Three lesser known by very high quality brewers in Sacramento. And all three are downtown.

How to make a Brew Pot

After you insert the bushing, get a copper fitting that is 1/2" FIP and 1/2 copper slip on the other side. Then bend a piece of 1/2" copper tubing to end in the center of the keggle. Go the grocery store and buy a pair of copper scrubbing pads and shove between the copper tube and the bottom of...

    Mash Tun Construction Questions

My mash tun has a brass 1/2" nipple, brass 1/2" ball valve, Stainless Steel washers, and a copper piece to connect the brass nipple to the CPVC manifold. I use 1/2" CPVC and it works wonderfully. I have used two CPVC manifolds, one with slits and the other with drilled holes. As far as the...

Dry Yeast and Rates for 1.070+ IPA

I have used both the 1056 and the US-05 and find them to be identical. I have had exactly the same results with both yeasts. Because of this I have started using alot more of the fermentis dry-yeasts. For my Oktoberfest Altbier I used the S-33 (my LHBS was out of the 1007) and the results were...
