    Just got back from the LHBS and they just got a shipment of grains so I grabbed 2 bags of avangard pils. Im good for a while now.

    Will do, ill wait till it gets here and put the imperial stout grist thru it. I think its like 22.5 pounds for a 5.25 gallon recipe. I dont have a shipping date yet but ill throw it up when it gets here.

    Had a bad week and this just happen to piss me off the most. Was considering the brewtech but the portly gentlemans review kinda turned me off, plus the short someone had on it. Just said if im gonna do it might as well do it right lmao.

    Sanitizer cup, chocolate pale malt, caramel 40 and 120 and a brewtools steam hat, need to get my boil done faster since im rocking 2-120v outlets. Next is a grain mill, god i wish there wasnt such a big gap between consumer and brewhouse grain mills.

    Im having the same problem but the actual chiller wont stop cooling the mixture. It just keeps dropping and dropping the temp

    Adding oxygen during fermentation

    I do 4 minutes of oxygen at 1/4 lpm before fermentation and have never ever had a problem fermenting. Ive brewed a westy 12 and an imperial stout that were both in the 12s and nothing went wrong. Gonna do the imperial this weekend and the westy12 next weekend so they can sit in a dark corner...

    What Hefeweizen yeast gives off a banana flavor

    I dont get why its so hard. I do 50/50 pils to wheat and run 3068 with a blow off tube without temp regulating. Ive learned that yeast kicks a bunch of banana at higher that 74 temps.

    Chocolate Extract in Fermentation Rather than Secondary?

    You could just make your own man, ive done it for some years already and its the best way to always keep extract in large amount on hand. Vodka and cacao nibs in a mason jar and let sit for a minimum of 3 months, 6 months has better flavor and so on and so on but 6 months is perfect for beer...

    Honestly i cant help you on this one but i tried to "cheat" the system by cutting corners and at the end, it turned out a great beer MONTHS after it should have been done. So now im just gonna do what the instructions say.

    Old yeast worked - Anyone else used old yeast successfully?

    Yeah expiration dates arent really a thing, ive revived a 2 year old pack of 3068 and it took about 5 or 6 days to wake up but then it took off. I have a pack of hothead that i dont really want but might just multiply and give away to some people around here.
