    Affligem Abbey Tripel Clone

Kegged this beer wednesday morning. Set the keg at 8 psi. Tasted it sunday night. Still mostly flat (as I expected), but the beer was also rather cloudy. I am wondering if this will clear up or if I should consider adding gelatin to the keg. We increased pressure to 12 and will probably taste...

    Christmas Ale recipe mod help

also OG was 1.050, which is exactly in line with what the recipe called for. (Although we added .5 lb 2 row, 2oz crystal, 6 oz munich, and 1lb figs to this recipe). I thought the figs might raise the OG. Perhaps they did make a contribution. We have been about .01 below gravity on our past brews.

    Christmas Ale recipe mod help

Brewed this today. We increased the speciality malts to 8oz crystal (80l), 8oz munich, and kept the roasted barley at 1/2 oz. Our main problem came with the mash temperature. It ended up too low. (our last brew, we heated strike water to 176, and after stirring it in, the mash was at 163, we...

    American IPA Stone Ruination Clone

Thanks thats helpful, as I hadn't thought of that explanation. I suspected we missed OG due to a flawed sparge process. Also we didn't vorlauf but did on our next batch. Things to improve if I give this recipe a second go.

PBW: What Concentration do YOU use?

used this at 50% of the recommended strength today and it worked fine. I had a 70 cc (ml) scoop. I weighed it at 2.25 oz. I used this to clean 6 gal better bottle and it worked fine. Jar recommends .75 oz / gal which would have been 4.5 oz.

    Affligem Abbey Tripel (Clone brews)

I see this is a rather old thread. But I am brewing that beer now and have made a thread about it. Just put it into secondary today. How did it turn out?

    Affligem Abbey Tripel Clone

This beer has been in primary for ten days. There was not nearly as much krausen actually remaining at the top of the beer as I had thought. Some light foam had stuck to the sides of the BB near the top and it was hard to see inside to see that there was very little krausen remaining at the top...

    Christmas Ale recipe mod help

Update. My brother has been working on the spice recipe. He is basing it off of the Southern Tier 2x Christmas. Here is what we came up with so far: 1 lb figs 3 Cardamom seeds 1/2 oz fresh orange peel 2 cinnamon sticks 1 clove 1/4 tsp fresh ginger 1/4 tsp nutmeg These will all be...

    Christmas Ale recipe mod help

So we started with ingredients for a regular malty ale. (Elm City Connecticut Ale clone from Clone Brews). Then decided that we want to make a Christmas Ale or winter warmer instead. We'd like to work with some of the excess supplies we already have, if possible. Need some feedback about whether...

    Intro

Hi! My brother got me into Homebrewing. Before I got started, he made 2-3 extract brews. He then got the equipment he'd need to brew All-grain. So far on the new equipment we have made a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale clone, a Saison, a Stone Ruination clone, and a Affligem Abbey Triple clone is...

    Affligem Abbey Tripel Clone

We (my brother and I) just brewed this beer on Saturday. Using the recipe from CloneBrews. Here are some notes on the brew so far. 1. Our goal mash temperature was 150. After the strike water had been fully added and the mash stirred, the temperature was too high at 163. Based on our...

    American IPA Stone Ruination Clone

I brewed this from the BYO recipe in early september. The final product was not exactly what I was hoping for. Some very off flavors, astringency/bitterness. Here are some details about the brew and what I think might have gone wrong. We had an OG of 1.054 (a bit low) and a FG of 1.013. I...
