I agree on that, i made brut dry one in hopes of making a sparkling wine type one, disgusting, undrinkable im just leaving the bottles alone for a few years, its a mini small batch 4-22oz bottles so not a big loss

You use nutrients? For something like that id think you’d a need staggered nutrient addition or at least an initial dose, hey at least it doesn’t taste like dirty socks and maybe just needs to sit longer? best of luck

Correct! We make wort, we are like a air Bnb for yeast, supply a nice place to live, great food and their currency is the finished beer, keep them happy they give good tips we are yeast shepherds

Anyone see that coors had to recall some beers? I saw a video of a guy pouring a can of coors and its slime, wtf is up with that? I heard of lambics getting “sick” never saw first hand a sick beer so i dont know but what do you think is causing the coors to be slime? Really weird

Its not a unexpected flavor, every single beer i brew with us05 has it and i dont think its a problem, its perfectly fine just not what i want Go free us05 and continue to do what you do people love you but i just like ya a little bit

Or some people taste things differently, im no rookie to using us05 never said it doesn’t produce good beer it sure does, i was asking if people experience tartness from it like i do , more of a discussion about the character it produces not a us05 bashing post, you love us05? Great! Thats all...

It definitely takes longer in my experience as well for example i made a 1080 beer with 1056 got it down to 1020 in about 3 days then down to 1012 in 2 more days and had a 1050 beer with us05 took about 7 days to get to 1013 where it stopped

Great point, if i used the word “off flavor” I should correct myself, “tart twang” which actually may or may not be a actual off flavor

All grain , i dont think is a matter of being a “super taster” more of a sensitivity thing i think

Us05 is not 1056 and i dont care what anyone says, might be from same stock but different treatment over time = acclimation and changes

And im sorry if it came off defensive like i have temp issues 😆 any temp with h us05 i get twang, i ran the gauntlet probably in the hundreds or upper double digits
