    Big Belgian Dubbel help.

I think your grain bill is ok. As to the yeast, what are you going for? Any of those will work fine. Do you want more or less esters? WY1762 has a more subtle ester profile than the other two. Cheers, Glenn

    Hello from NJ

Welcome. On May 1, try to stop buy at Iron Hill Brewery in Maple Shade to join the Barley Legal Homebrewers for National Homebrewer Day. We'll be brewing in the rear parking lot. We're a new club in the Burlington/Camden county area. Good group of guys making some good beer. We'd love to...

    Whats your grains bill crush???

Did your volumes come out as predicted? If you overshoot your volume, your OG will be less than planned. I suggest that you stick with one gap setting for a few batches until you have your process and system dialed in with a predictable efficiency. Then you can tighten the gap a bit in an...

Using Gelatin When Racking Causes Too Much Foam

+1. However, I would give the gelatin 3 to 4 days. A homebrewer on the NB forum posted pix at 1,2 3, & 4 days. There was a visual difference between the 2nd & 3rd day in clarity. Cheers, Glenn

May 1st Big Brew Event at Iron Hill Brewery, Maple Shade, NJ

I didn't realize that this was the tally-whacker end of NJ.... But, I'll be there, now all I have to do is decide what to brew. Let's see Westmalle or Ringwood or go lager with Chechvar. Good problem to have ! :ban: Cheers, Glenn

    Grain mill questions

My 2 cent: Unless you are brewing very often or brewing gigantic batches, I would skip all three and put the $ toward a powerful drill if you don't have one or toward a used motor to drive the mill. Cheers, Glenn

    Kolsch Not Finished

I would leave it there until you get the same gravity readings per secondary for 2 or 3 days in a row. Activity in the airlock is an imperfect method to determine if fermentation is complete. They can bubble forever as CO2 dissipates or they can never bubble if there is a leak in the stopper...

    Wyeast Pacman

+1 IMO whoever said "yeast made the beer, you held the spoon" got it dead nuts on. Those steps for me yielded the biggest improvement in my beer. Don't forget proper aeration. Give the yeasties the best environment to do their work and keep them happy and you'll be rewarded with great beer...

    gelatin

While others have good results with that approach. Personally I would do 2 things differently: 1. Transfer the beer to the keg and allow to cool for a day or 2. This will allow chill haze to develop (if its going to). The gelatin will remove chill haze, but the chill haze has to be there to...
